Hanover - Hannover 96 have scored just two goals in their last five games, but that barren run could well continue with news that striker will be out of action for the forseeable future after dislocating his shoulder.

The Senegalese international fell awkwardly in the Reds' 1-1 draw against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Matchday 24 and is set for surgery on Thursday morning. He will be operated on by shoulder specialist Prof. Dr. Helmut Lill in the Friederikenstift hospital in Hanover.

Reds in a rut

The 26-year-old has played in 19 Bundesliga games this season, scoring eight times. However, he has netted just once in his last five appearances, in which his team have taken just two points, leaving them just six points ahead of the relegation play-off place.

The Lower Saxons travel to Hertha Berlin in their next league outing, before hosting Borussia Dortmund at the HDI Arena on Matchday 26.
