Brescia - FC Bayern Munich continued their smooth preparation for the 2013/14 season with a 3-0 friendly win over Italian Serie B side Brescia Calcio. Meanwhile, midfielder Mario Götze, as well as defender Holger Badstuber, have returned to Munich to continue their rehabilitation from injury.

At a canter

Thomas Müller and Toni Kroos opened the scoring in the first half, before new signing Jan Kirchhoff settled the result after the break.

Brescia held their own against the current European champions early on, but the deadlock was broken when Mario Mandzukic pounced on an errant pass from the keeper to present Müller with an easy, close-range finish.

Kroos then added a second shortly afterwards, collecting a poor clearance and hammering a shot home from the edge of the box. After the restart, Franck Ribery fired a free-kick against the crossbar, before Kirchhoff netted a third, heading into an empty net from six yards out.

Götze back home

Before the game, Bayern confirmed that Götze and Badstuber would return to Munich to join Bastian Schweinsteiger as the Bayern vice captain continues his bid to be fit in time for the start of the new campaign.

Götze, who was unveiled by the club last week after joining from Borussia Dortmund, will have an MRI scan on a nagging groin injury on Wednesday morning. The 21-year-old is optimistic he can get back to fitness soon, telling fcb.tv, "The groin feels much better."
