Hamburg - Hamburger SV goalkeeper Rene Adler will miss the start of his side's 2013/14 pre-season circuit through injury.

The 28-year-old suffered a slight capsular ligament tear on international duty for Germany against Ecuador last month, as well as bruising to the same, left knee.

Adler will undergo a two-week rehabilitation program while the rest of the team travel to their training camp in Zillertal, Austria. "In Hamburg, I'm in the best possible place to speed up the recovery process," explained the Germany No2.

The Leipzig-born stopper is expected to be fit in time for HSV's season opener away to FC Schalke 04 on August 10.
