Gelsenkirchen - FC Schalke 04 have announced that current FC Bayern Munich assistant coach Peter Hermann will occupy the same role for the Royal Blues in the forthcoming Bundesliga season after signing a contract through to 30 June 2015.

"We're delighted that we could bring in such an experienced man, who has a superb reputation in the league," said Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt. Presently Jupp Heynckes' right-hand man, Hermann, who made 217 appearances as a player for Hamburger SV and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, will head north for the 2013/14 campaign after two years in the Bavarian captial.
