Kick-off!

Still time before the break?

The pressure from Schalke is mounting, but the Hallescher defence continues to hold firm.
36'

That should be the opener!

33'

Schalke dominant

The Bundesliga side are setting the tone here as expected, but are not yet purposeful enough in the final third. Hallescher are putting in a shift and have managed to keep a clean sheet so far.
27'

Off the crossbar!

Kuruçay dribbles forward and lays it off to the left for the younger Becker, who crosses first time. However, he doesn't connect cleanly, sending the ball looping dangerously towards the far post, and it bounces back off the crossbar!

Intense duels

The Schalke captain in action.
22'

That was close

Aouchiche cuts in from the left and fires low towards the near post, but Bendel is ready and makes a good save.
15'

So close!

Halle are awarded a free kick roughly 30 yards out, following a foul by Becker, which was punished with a yellow card. Hartmann curls the ball over the wall and misses the goal to the left by only a few centimetres. The ball then bounces off the advertising hoarding and against the net, causing half the stadium to think a goal has been scored. Even the goal anthem plays briefly, before everyone realises that play continues with a goal kick.
9'

High press from Schalke

S04 are playing an attacking press as expected, winning the ball from the regional league side on one or two occasions in their own half.
4'
