Hat-trick hero...

...and unlikely to let go of the trophy anytime soon!

Chabot: "A big disappointment"

"It's a big disappointment - when you reach a final, you want to win it. We didn't, and we need to learn from it. Hopefully we'll get another chance."
camera-photo

A first-ever DFB Cup winners' medal for Musiala!

Urbig, Díaz, Pavlović and Olise also added the accomplishment to their footballing CVs for the first time.
camera-photo

Kompany: "I'm proud"

"I'm extremely proud. This team has shown real resilience. It's a big deal to achieve what they've achieved. It's a big moment for us; it's been a fantastic season, and that's a good way to end it. I'm on holiday now, so we're going to celebrate and make sure we value this trophy and this season. It's been such an experience - so many wins. And I've been in football long enough to know that's rare."
camera-photo

Demirović reveals Kane admiration

"We had some big opportunities, but in the end they have a great player like Harry Kane, who can decide a game alone. We gave everything, but it wasn't enough."
camera-photo

More from Kane

"Team spirit is 100% the key factor this season. What we’ve created here as a team and built amongst each other is the feeling that we can beat anyone, the feeling that we’re together in every moment. The good moments, the bad moments. And you saw that again today. Whether I scored the goals or Jonas saves the ball, whoever it is. Everyone has their moments and we do it all together.”

The man of the moment...

...gets his hands on the trophy!
camera-photo

Kane on his final heroics

“I’m so excited. I’m excited for the fans. It’s been too long since we held this cup. It’s my first one, my first experience of Berlin. And what a way to start. Going into this final I felt it was my responsibility as much as anyone to get us over the line. I know I’m going to get chances and I did again today. To score a hat-trick in the final is such a special feeling and it’s memories I’ll remember forever.”

Bayern lift the DFB Cup!

For the first time 2020, Bayern Munich's players hold aloft the DFB Cup! What a season for them!
camera-photo

Stuttgart get their runners-up medals

Their fans stay to cheer their heroes, who threatened to spoil Bayern's party in the first half. With Champions League qualification secured, it will still go down as a successful season for Sebastian Hoeneß' men.
camera-photo

Unstoppable Kane

The Englishman's treble today showcased the full range of his powers: a cushioned header, a neat turn and finish (after nonchalantly sweeping a shot off the bar), and a confident penalty. He finishes the DFB Cup campaign with a remarkable 10 goals, scoring in every round.
camera-photo

Full-time: Bayern Munich 3-0 VfB Stuttgart

Courtesy of a strong second half-performance and a fantastic Kane hat-trick, Bayern win the DFB Cup and complete the double! After Stuttgart had impressed in the first period, the Bavarians stepped up a gear, scoring three unanswered goals. VfB battled hard, but ultimately had no answer to Bayern's attack, and the clinical Kane in particular. The celebrations in Berlin - and Munich - will go on long into the night!

Free-scoring Bayern

Impressively, Bayern have now scored in every competitive match this season. The only other time they achieved this feat was in season 2020/21.

Half-time: Bayern Munich 0-0 VfB Stuttgart

The half-time whistle goes in what has been an intriguing first half in Berlin. VfB have got their gameplan right so far, defending vigorously and attacking with purpose down both flanks. Unusually, it took Bayern a good half-hour to find their feet in the match, but they tested Nübel a couple of times after that. It's all still to play for at the Olympiastadion!

Good defending by Stuttgart

Kimmich floats in a free kick to Kane, but after a good initial chest control, the Englishman just can't get a meaningful second touch on it, and a combination of Hendriks and Stiller get the ball away from danger.
37'

Big save by Nübel!

Bayern are putting a bit more pressure on now. Stanišić lets fly with a piledriver, but Nübel is equal to it and pushes the ball away to safety!

Díaz creates space for himself and fires one towards goal, but it's easily dealt with by the Stuttgart 'keeper.

End-to-end

After Leweling gets a foot in just ahead of Díaz to snuff out a Bayern chance, Stuttgart break quickly through Führich, but the low effort at the end of his run is a little weak and Urbig makes a comfortable save.

Some good build-up by Stuttgart leads to a shooting chance just outside the box for Stiller, but he sends his effort way over the bar. Good signs for VfB early on, though.

Early chance for Stuttgart

VfB show early on that they're not here to make up the numbers: Mittelstädt's corner finds the head of Undav, but he nods it straight into the arms of Urbig!

Some potential history for Stuttgart

If Deniz Undav and Co. can successfully defend their DFB crown today, they would join an elite group of clubs to have achieved such a feat, with RB Leipzig claiming two in a row most recently in 2022 and 2023.
camera-photo

A big day for Urbig

Today marks arguably the most significant game in the career of the young Bayern goalkeeper, playing today in place of the injured Manuel Neuer. Having made 14 Bundesliga appearances this season, he will certainly not be lacking in match practice.

Sell-out in Berlin

Berlin's Olympiastadion is completely sold out today, with a total of 74,000 Bayern and Stuttgart fans in attendance.

camera-photo

Potential first for Kompany

camera-photo

Players out on the pitch

As the players walk out to check out the field conditions, there's already a tremendous noise in the Olympiastadion, with both sets of fans making themselves heard. It promises to be a great atmosphere once we get going!
camera-photo

Previous final clash

Bayern and Stuttgart have met once before in the final, in 2012/13. The exciting encounter ended 3-2 to the Bavarians, with striker Mario Gómez scoring twice against his former club.
camera-photo

More on that Stuttgart team

Sebastian Hoeneß has made just one change compared to Bundesliga Matchday 34 in Frankfurt, with Jaquez taking the place of Nartey. Somewhat surprisingly, captain Karazor begins on the bench, but Chema has performed brilliantly in his place in central midfield while the skipper was suspended.
camera-photo

More on that Bayern team

Kompany has made four changes following his side's last competitive game, the 5-1 win against Cologne in the Bundesliga finale a week ago. Olise, Pavlović, Stanišić and Urbig all come into the starting line-up, replacing Karl, Goretzka, Bischof and the injured Neuer.

Atakan Karazor's thoughts on the final

“We want to keep the cup in Stuttgart and we know what’s coming. The opponent is Bayern Munich and you have to raise your level when you play against them. But we don’t need to hide. We’re very motivated!”
camera-photo

Joshua Kimmich's thoughts on the final

"It’s always something very special to come here. You can feel at the club, in the team, and in the wider ‘family’ that everyone is really looking forward to it — especially because we haven’t been part of it for a while. We’re going to give everything we’ve got!”
camera-photo

Sebastian Hoeneß on facing Bayern

"We need an exceptional performance. That’s what we’re aiming for. You always need that when playing against Bayern Munich. We’ve got a taste for it now - Atakan said that a year ago - and you could feel it again when we reached the final quite convincingly. It's the best match we can possibly have, against one of the best teams in Europe[...] My past probably makes it a bit more special. But we’re up against the team that has dominated so impressively over the past few decades. That gives you extra motivation - a lot of things come together here, and I’m really looking forward to it.
camera-photo

Vincent Kompany on facing Stuttgart

“I haven’t yet been in a German final, though I have been in other finals. I won my first FA Cup in England when the team hadn’t won it for 40 years beforehand. Winning here is always a historic moment. Stuttgart managed it last year. This season, the whole team has been talking about this cup since day one. That shows the great appreciation Bayern Munich has for this competition. We want to bring it back to Munich.”
camera-photo

Vincent Kompany on Bayern's goalkeeping situation

"We’ve said many times that we have a great setup in this area. Everyone enjoys working together. It’s a coincidence, but Jonas Jonas Urbig has already played twice against Stuttgart. We had no doubts when Jonas first played in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen, and the same will be true against Stuttgart. Hopefully he plays well, but the pressure isn’t on his shoulders - it’s on other players who have been here many times before, like Joshua Kimmich or myself as the coach."
camera-photo

No Neuer

Early team news out of Munich is that Manuel Neuer has not recovered from the calf issue that forced him off in last week's Bundesliga finale. Jonas Urbig will play in goal in Berlin. Serge Gnabry (adductor) and Alphonso Davies (hamstring) are also out but will travel with Neuer and the squad to support the team.
camera-photo

More from Chema on Stuttgart's strengths

"I think the virtues we have as a team are that we all play together, we support each other, know how we want to play, attack the ball. Up front, we’ve got very good attackers. And at the back we’ve got players who defend in an intense way. I think we complement each other very well. I think we all sing off the same hymn sheet, which makes us a very good team."
camera-photo

Chema on facing Bayern for a fourth time in 2025/26

“We’ve lost against them three times this season, but I think this is a completely different match," the Spanish midfielder told the Bundesliga in the build-up to Saturday's showpiece. "It’s a final where anything can happen. I believe we’ve learned from those three games and this one will be very different from the rest.”

Josip Stanišić on what has made Bayern so strong this season

"Everyone had the same goals," the 26-year-old told the Bundesliga. "Everyone worked for it. We have star players, but they still worked their behinds off on the field. Sometimes, if your star player isn’t running back or fighting for you, then you can be a bit disappointed. In this case, there was never a moment this season where our players, no matter who was playing, gave less than 100 percent. For us as a group, this is the most important thing. We can all lose duels and games of course, but at least we gave it everything we had in every game.”

Bischof on the chance of winning the double

"I think it will become more special the closer it gets. For now, it is just a normal week for us. Starting to think about this game too early won’t help. It’s just about delivering the basics until the end of the week and then delivering them again in the game. I hope that the anticipation will start to kick in, and I get some positive nerves, because that’s all part of it, and I think it will help."
camera-photo

Tom Bischof on facing Stuttgart

"Stuttgart play good football because they are calm on the ball and they don’t try to play forward too quickly. They always pick the right moments to play forward, so it won't be an easy game. They're in the final for a reason - and we will see what happens.”

Die Schwaben also got their hands on the trophy in 1996/97, 1985/86, 1957/58 and 1953/54, and have finished runners-up on three further occasions, including against Bayern in 2012/13.

Stuttgart needed penalties to advance against Bundesliga 2 side Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round, but won in regulation time against Bundesliga counterparts Mainz (2-0), and second-tier clubs Bochum (2-0) and Holstein Kiel (3-0). After going behind to Freiburg in the semi-final, Sebastian Hoeneß's charges needed extra-time to book their place in the final, with goals from Deniz Undav and Tiago Tomás securing a 2-1 victory.
