Bremen welcomed Bayern to the Weserstadion with Daniel Thioune taking charge of his first home game. The hosts were in dire need of points, having gone 11 matches without a win.
Bayern, meanwhile, arrived in formidable form, having lost only two of their last 41 Bundesliga matches and unbeaten away from home for 14 months. The Bavarians were missing the suspended Michael Olise but still boasted a fearsome attack, led by Kane, who was aiming to add to his impressive tally of 24 league goals.
Bremen began brightly with Romano Schmid firing wide in the fourth minute, followed by Felix Agu nearly connecting with a dangerous cross at the back post.
However, Bayern gradually found their rhythm, and the breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Kane converted from the spot after splendid work from Lennart Karl. The 17-year-old weaved brilliantly into the box before being fouled by Senne Lynen. After a VAR check, referee Bastian Dankert pointed to the spot, and Kane stepped up to convert emphatically.
Three minutes later, Bayern doubled their advantage. Goretzka charged down a clearance, and when the ball landed at Kane's feet via a pass from Luis Díaz, the Englishman fired home a clinical low shot from outside the box that found the bottom corner via the post.
Both sides made changes at the break, with Manuel Neuer replaced by Jonas Urbig in goal after the Bayern captain had reported a calf injury, while Bremen introduced Samuel Mbangula for the yellow-carded Niklas Stark.
The hosts nearly pulled one back immediately when Marco Grüll's header struck the post in the 47th minute. This sparked a brief flurry of Bremen chances, with Justin Njinmah and Jens Stage both trying their luck. Schmid, too, then found himself denied by a good stop from Urbig after 65 minutes.
With the tempo fading from the game, Vincent Kompany freshened his side up with the introductions of Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies in the 69th minute. The impact was immediate as Bayern scored their third just 60 seconds later. Davies combined well with Díaz and Musiala down the left before squaring for Goretzka, who took a touch and swept home from the edge of the box to put the result beyond doubt.
Man of the Match: Harry Kane
Kane was the difference-maker once again for Bayern, continuing his remarkable form in the Bundesliga. The England captain converted his penalty with clinical precision before adding a sublime second goal from outside the box just three minutes later.
His movement and link-up play caused problems for the Bremen defence throughout the match, and he has now scored 26 goals in 22 Bundesliga games this season. Kane's perfect penalty record in the Bundesliga remains intact, having now converted all 23 of his attempts from the spot.
