Valentino Lazaro joins Borussia Mönchengladbach on loan from Inter Milan
Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Marco Rose has strengthened his defensive options with the signing of Austria international Valentino Lazaro from Serie A side Inter Milan.
The 23-year-old arrives on an initial season-long loan at Borussia Park, having played for six months in Italy working under Antonio Conte before spending the end of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Newcastle United in the English Premier League.
"We're very happy that the loan agreement went well and that Tino decided on Borussia", said Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl. "He's a very flexible player who will give our squad even more quality and depth."
Lazaro will be a familiar name to Bundesliga fans following a two-year spell with Hertha between 2017 and 2019, during which time he scored five goals in 57 top-flight outings for the Old Lady.
An attack-minded player, the 28-time Austria international can operate either as right-back or in right-midfield, and his natural forward-thinking instincts will no doubt go down well in a side that scored 66 league goals last season, an average of two per game.
