Union Berlin acquire Kastriot Imeri from Young Boys
Union Berlin have confirmed the signing of Kastriot Imeri from Young Boys.
Imeri will reunite with Mauro Lustrinelli after the two combined to help Thun win their maiden Swiss Super League title in 2025/26 during the attacking midfielder's loan spell.
Upon the announcement, Union managing director Horst Heldt said, "Kastriot is a technically gifted and versatile attacking player who can be deployed both between the lines and on the wings. He has received excellent training, brings experience from top-level Swiss football and international competition, and has already demonstrated his potential at a high level on several occasions. We are convinced that he will bring additional creativity to our attacking play."
Imeri, meanwhile, added, "The move to Union is a great challenge for me but also a tremendous opportunity. The Bundesliga is one of the strongest leagues in the world. Being successful there with Union is a challenge I'm happy to take on. Another important factor for me was the prospect of working with Mauro again.
"We know each other very well from our time together in Switzerland and experienced some great successes together there. Now I'm looking forward to getting to know the team and the club, contributing my qualities, and working together with everyone at Union for a successful season."
Imeri, who has one cap for Switzerland, scored six goals and provided eight assists in 30 Swiss top-flight games last season. He could make his debut for the Iron Ones at Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday after they kicked off their Bundesliga campaign with a 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.
