Bayern Munich's goalkeeping injury crisis worsens as Sven Ulreich is sidelined
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has been ruled out of action after sustaining an injury in his side's draw with Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 26, making him the club's third senior stopper to be ruled out in recent weeks after Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig were also sidelined.
The experienced shot-stopper suffered a groin strain in what was a hectic afternoon at the BayArena, with Bayern managing to take a point home with them despite ending the game with nine men.
"I felt something in my thigh. That's why I didn't take the last goal kick," said Ulreich, who, despite the injury, enjoyed being back between the sticks. "I was in good shape in the end, and it was fun".
On how it will affect the league leaders ahead of their next few games, he said: "We'll have to see. I think Jonas [Urbig] is on the right track; maybe he can play again on Wednesday against Atalanta. We'll just have to wait and see over the next few days".
While it hasn't been confirmed just how long he'll be out for, it'll likely be a few weeks before he's back in contention.
