Dortmund managing director for sport Lars Ricken said: "With his skills and potential, Samu is one of the greatest talents of his age group worldwide. We're convinced that with his dedication and quality, he can develop into an exceptional player. He's an important part of our team's development, and we're delighted that we have been able to secure his long-term commitment."

Sporting director Ole Book added: "Samu brings a lot to the table: He's intelligent on the pitch, comfortable the ball, and good at combination play. He also has a very good sense of space, which makes him a goal threat. These qualities, combined with his hard work and his willingness to improve, make him a really good player who has already developed well with us and still has big steps ahead."
