Romania kicked off their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Ukraine in Munich.

Romania 3-0 Ukraine
Goals: 1-0
Stanciu (29’), 2-0 R. Marin (53’), 3-0 Drăguş (57’)

Ukraine raced out of the blocks at the Allianz Arena and poured forward at every possible opportunity, but Serhiy Rebrov’s side failed to convert that early dominance into clear chances, let alone the lead. Romania made no mistake when presented with a chance, though. Dennis Man intercepted a miscued clearance from Andriy Lunin and squared the ball to Nicolae Stanciu to bend into the far corner from the edge of the D. The Tricolori then took the game beyond the Ukrainians with two quickfire second-half goals when Răzvan Marin finished off a counter-attack and Denis Drăguş turned in a flashed Man ball across the face of goal following a corner. Romania take preliminary pole in Group E thanks to their biggest win at a Euros, before Belgium take on Slovakia in Frankfurt in Monday’s second game.
