The midfielder, who previously played for Mainz, will join up with Leipzig for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign. The club have also revealed that he will wear the Number 10 shirt.

Speaking upon the announcement of the transfer, Leipzig's managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer said, "When the opportunity arose to bring Brajan on loan, we were immediately enthusiastic.

"We've had him on our radar for several years and would have liked to bring him to Leipzig in 2024. Even after that, contact was never broken. So we're all the happier now, even if it's initially a loan. We see Brajan playing in the number eight and 10 roles, where he gives us even more options."

Meanwhile, Gruda himself said, "I was determined to join Leipzig as soon as it became clear that a winter transfer was possible for me. Leipzig is not only an absolute top club in Germany, but their style of play also suits me perfectly.

"There has been regular contact between Leipzig and me in the past. This gives me a good feeling and shows that the club and the management are convinced of my abilities and really want me on the team. Therefore, I'm all the more delighted to be here now."

The 21-year-old came through the youth system at Mainz, making 31 senior appearances for the clubs in all competitions and scoring four goals prior to his 2024 switch to the English Premier League. He featured 45 times for Brighton in all competitions, finding the back of the net on four occasions.

A 19-cap Germany U21 international, he was called up to the senior team for the international friendly against Ukraine in June 2024 but did not make it onto the field.

Gruda could make his debut on Sunday, when Leipzig travel to Cologne on Matchday 21 of the Bundesliga campaign. His new team are currently fifth in the table, three points adrift of the top four.
