Eintracht Frankfurt sign World Cup winner Erik Durm from Huddersfield
Former Borussia Dortmund defender Erik Durm is returning to the Bundesliga from English Premier League side Huddersfield. The 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal with Eintracht Frankfurt.
The versatile full-back made 97 appearances for Dortmund between 2013 and 2017 before moving to England to work under now Schalke head coach, David Wagner, at Huddersfield.
"It's great that we have been able to sign a seven-time German international and 2014 World Champion," Frankfurt team manager Fredi Bobic told the club's website.
Durm spent one season in the Premier League with Huddersfield, making 28 appearances and claiming one assist during 2018/19.
"Erik Durm not only expands our possibilities, but he is a strong character and an outstanding team player. Erik has played at the highest level nationally and internationally, these experiences are a great added value for our team."
Durm was also a member of Germany’s FIFA World Cup winning squad in 2014, and has played seven times for his national side since making his debut just before the World Cup tournament began.
