The five most efficient passing teams in 2024/25
Though Bayern Munich were champions with the best attack in 2024/25, they were only second-best for pass efficiency. Bundesliga.com reveals the top passing team and more...
1. Bayer Leverkusen, +362.7
Leverkusen failed to retain the Meisterschale in a testing two-horse race with Bayern Munich, however, Xabi Alonso’s style of total domination was evident in their passing numbers once again. The Werkself showed just how difficult they are to play against in 2024/25, giving their opponents little room to breathe with their precise passing.

2. Bayern Munich, +246.3
Vincent Kompany’s team topped the charts across multiple passing metrics on their way to the title last season. They enjoyed the most average possession with 64% and played the most passes from open-play as well. Not only that, they further managed to complete an impressive 91% of their passes from open play.

3. VfB Stuttgart, +108.5
The only team among the top five here to not qualify for the Champions League, Sebastian Hoeneß’s Stuttgart were nonetheless very impressive on the ball throughout the 24/25 campaign, which has become a feature of their style under their current boss. They had a solid pass completion rate of 86%.
4. Eintracht Frankfurt, +62.5
The only side in this top five to average less than 50% possession, Frankfurt finished the 24/25 season with an average of just 49%. However, the Hesse side were extremely effective due to their direct style of play and ended up scoring the most counter-attack goals last season with 13.

5. Borussia Dortmund, +40.2
Niko Kovač and his staff guided Dortmund to a stunning second half of the season which saw them shoot up from mid-table to a top-four finish on the final day against Holstein Kiel. During the season, they averaged 58% ball possession, for which they were second only to champions Bayern. Dortmund’s pass-completion rate of 87% was also the third-best behind Bayern and Leverkusen.
