Mario Götze signs Eintracht Frankfurt contract extension
Mario Götze has signed a two-year contract extension at Eintracht Frankfurt, keeping him at the club until June 2028.
The 2014 World Cup winner has made four appearances from a possible seven under new Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Albert Riera, but remains an experienced figure in a young squad.
“Eintracht Frankfurt means a great deal to me,” said Götze, who joined Die Adler from PSV Eindhoven at the start of the 2022/23 season. “I’ve been here for almost four years and have had a fantastic time so far.”
The 33-year-old, who has featured 26 times across the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup this season, added: “I know that a football career is finite. That makes me appreciate every moment on the pitch and in the stadium even more.
“The joy I get from football and from this club convinced me to extend my contract.”

Since joining Frankfurt in 2022, Götze has played 148 games across all competitions, returning 12 goals and providing 18 assists, playing an integral role in 2024/25 as the Eagles secured Champions League football via their league position for the first time in the club’s history.
“Mario is a very important player and an equally important personality for the team and the club,” said Markus Krösche, Eintracht’s sporting director. “He has experienced almost everything in his professional career, going through highs and lows, and thus gained a wealth of experience that he now wants to share with the many young players in our club.
“His contract extension is a strong show of commitment to Eintracht.”
