Jadon Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United until the end of the current season.

The move, which was finalised on Thursday, should provide a huge boost to Dortmund as they begin their preparations for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.

Edin Terzić's side are currently fifth in the Bundesliga standings, 15 points behind leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

"When I walked into the changing room today, it felt a bit like coming home. I know the club inside and out, was always very close to the fans here, and contact with the bosses never stopped," Sancho said upon his return to the Signal Iduna Park, where he will wear the No.10 shirt. "I can't wait to see my teammates again, be out on the pitch and play football with a smile, assist goals, score goals, and help the team qualify for the Champions League."

Sancho enjoyed four sensational years at Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 following his switch from Manchester City as a teenager, scoring 50 goals across 137 competitive matches for the club as he established himself in the senior game, as well as becoming a full England international.

Now 23, Sancho departed Dortmund for Old Trafford in summer 2021 after helping BVB win the DFB Cup, but he has struggled to regularly replicate his blistering displays for Dortmund in England.

"Jadon is a player who can make the difference, and I'm pleased to see him back in black and yellow. He knows the city, the Signal Iduna Park, our fans and our club," added sporting director Sebastian Kehl. "Even though he hasn't played competitively in recent months, we're sure he'll quickly settle back in with us, get back to his best form and help us achieve our season goals with his qualities."

Dortmund return to competitive action on Saturday when they visit Darmstadt.
