Freiburg to play Motherwell in UEFA Conference League play-off round
Freiburg will face Motherwell in the UEFA Conference League play-off round, where a place in the 36-team league phase will be at stake.
Julian Schuster's side will travel to Scottish Premiership outfit Motherwell on 20 August in the first leg of the play-off, with the return fixture on 27 August in Freiburg.
Their opponents were decided after the third qualifying round on 13 August, when Motherwell battled to a 2-0 win over Finnish side HJK Helsinki to seal a 3-1 aggregate win. Nigerian striker Ibrahim Said scored both goals for the Scots.
Freiburg qualified for the Conference League play-off round after finishing seventh in the Bundesliga last season. They are aiming to return to the competition's main stage after reaching the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League final, where they were beaten 3-0 by England's Aston Villa.
Should Die Breisgauer progress, they will discover their league-phase opponents in the competition's main draw on 28 August. The Conference League league phase begins on 15 October.
