Union Berlin loan Atlanta United's Emmanuel Latte Lath

Emmanuel Latte Lath has joined Union Berlin on a season-long loan from Major League Soccer side Atlanta United.

Latte Lath came through Italian side Atalanta's academy before enjoying a breakthrough campaign with Swiss club St. Gallen in 2022/23, scoring 14 league goals and providing four assists in 31 appearances. His form earned him a move to English Championship outfit Middlesbrough, where he struck 29 goals in 67 competitive matches, including 16 in his debut league season.

The four-time Côte d'Ivoire international, 27, then crossed the Atlantic to join Atlanta United in early 2025, registering 15 goal contributions in 48 appearances.

"Emmanuel has worked his way up step by step and proven his quality in different countries," said Union sporting director Horst Heldt. "With his pace, mentality and eye for goal, he fits the profile we were looking for in attack. He will give us additional options, and we are convinced he will quickly integrate into the team."

For his part, Latte Lath is relishing the opportunity to test himself in the Bundesliga. "The talks with Union have been very positive from the start, and I have already had the opportunity to experience the atmosphere at the Alte Försterei. The Bundesliga is a great challenge that I am very excited about. I want to use the chance to prove myself at this level and help the team with my qualities."

Latte Lath could make his Bundesliga debut on 29 August when Union kick off their eighth consecutive top-flight season at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.
