Bayern Munich's David Alaba sees treble-winning opportunity

Bayern Munich have arrived in their winter training camp in Qatar brimming with confidence and full of motivation ahead of an assault on three trophies in 2019, according to David Alaba.

Austrian defender Alaba knows what it means to win a Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League treble, having succeeded under Jupp Heynckes six years ago. The record champions can do the same again this year, and although there is plenty of work ahead, Alaba insists it is within Bayern's capabilities.

"I'm not one who sets goals for an entire year, but just up until the summer and the treble is a dream," he told the Bild. "Of course we want to make it come true."

Bayern head into the new year not top of the Bundesliga for the first time in eight years, and with a six-point deficit on Borussia Dortmund to overturn if they are to win the title for a record-breaking seventh straight season.

Niko Kovac's side travel to the capital for what they hope will be the first of two visits in the DFB Cup in early February, before testing their mettle against the current English Premier League leaders Liverpool, coached by the last man to wrestle the Bundesliga from them, Jürgen Klopp.

That draw is not necessarily daunting, though, to a player who has already won it all, and has every intention of doing so again.

"Everybody is beatable," Alaba said. "Anything can happen in football and we've seen that often enough. We need to ensure we prepare well now and the important thing is that we steer clear of injuries and just put our foot down."
