A fresh start under Alexander Blessin? Choose your Gladbach line-up for their derby clash with Cologne!
Borussia Mönchengladbach will head into the upcoming Rhine derby with new coach Alexander Blessin at the helm, but how do you think the Foals will line up? Well, now it’s your turn—pick your Gladbach line-up for Sunday afternoon’s massive game!
After a disastrous start to the season that has seen them lose all four of their Bundesliga games, Borussia Mönchengladbach head into their derby clash with Cologne under the guidance of new coach Blessin, who will look to get them off the foot of the table.
And what better way to do that than with a derby victory against the Billy Goats? With a win against their fierce rivals, the Foals could close the gap to Cologne to just one point in the league table.
Captain Tim Kleindienst is back for the visitors after serving his suspension. However, in the 31-year-old’s absence, Isac Lidberg netted in their recent loss to Mainz, giving Blessin an early selection headache. Alternatively, the new boss could opt for a two-striker formation featuring both offensive talents.
Florian Neuhaus also made his mark against Mainz. The midfielder scored the opening goal and impressed with his strength in duels, characteristics that will be crucial in a tense derby game. The same goes for Shūto Machino, who also found the net in that seven-goal thriller and will be eager for more playing time.
Gladbach are actually undefeated in their past three Rhine Derby games, and they'd love to extend that run at their rivals' home ground.
Whether Gladbach can finally secure their long-awaited first win of the season remains to be seen, but you can already pick your preferred starting line-up!
