Borna Sosa makes Bundesliga return with Cologne
Borna Sosa has joined Cologne on loan from Crystal Palace for the remainder of the 2026/27 campaign, the Billy Goats have confirmed.
The 28-year-old, who previously spent five years with VfB Stuttgart, said: "Cologne has one of the best atmospheres in the league. Now I’m really looking forward to experiencing that feeling as an Cologne player here in the stadium.
"I have followed how Cologne started the season because I still watch the Bundesliga.
"For me, the most important thing is that we perform well as a team, then every individual will have a successful season."
Cologne sporting director Thomas Kessler, meanwhile, added: "We are really pleased that Borna will strengthen us in the coming season. His personality fits really well to us and he’ll be able to bring in his experience off the pitch as well. With his strong left foot, his desire to get forward and his quality crossing, he gives us different options in our game.
The Croatia international joins from Palace, where he made 18 appearances in two years. Bundesliga fans will know him best from his time at Stuttgart, where he played 115 times between 2018 and 2023. Otherwise, he has featured for Dinamo Zagreb, Ajax and Torino, while he has represented his country on 27 occasions.
Sosa is Cologne's 12th new arrival of the summer transfer window. So far this campaign, René Wagner's men have beaten Würzburger Kickers 2-1 in the first round of the DFB Cup and Hoffenheim 3-2 on the opening day of the Bundesliga campaign. Their freshest face, meanwhile, could make his debut against former club Stuttgart on Friday.
