Benito Raman joins Schalke from Fortuna Düsseldorf
Schalke have completed the signing of Belgian winger Benito Raman from Fortuna Düsseldorf, tying the 24-year-old to a five-year contract at the Veltins Arena.
Promoted Düsseldorf were one of last season’s surprise packages in the Bundesliga, finishing the campaign in 10th, some 16 points clear of the relegation battle many had predicted them to be a part of.
Raman was central to their success, with 10 goals and four assists – invariably from the wing – an impressive return from the attacker, who won the last of his Belgium U21 caps in 2015.

"We're very happy that Benito has decided to join Schalke," said head coach David Wagner. "He showed with his 10 goals and four assists last season that he can perform at the top level."
Raman will compete with the likes of Breel Embolo, Alessandro Schöpf and Rabbi Matondo for a wide attacking berth with the Royal Blues next term. As part of the deal, Bernard Tekpetey has joined Fortuna on loan from Schalke for the 2019/20 season.
He is Schalke’s third summer signing, following the acquisition of England U21 right-back Jonjoe Kenny on loan from Everton, and Turkish international Ozan Kabak from VfB Stuttgart.
