Bayern Munich's Lennart Karl makes senior Germany debut
Bayern Munich youngster Lennart Karl's sensational season continued on Friday evening as he made his senior Germany debut in Germany's 4-3 win over Switzerland.
Karl, who only turned 18 in February, was called up by Julian Nagelsmann for the first time in this international break, and the Germany coach wasted little time in getting a closer look at the Bayern winger first hand.
With Germany leading 3-2 in Basel in their pre-World Cup warm-up against Switzerland, Karl took to the field in the 63rd minute as a replacement for Leroy Sané.
Although the youngster wasn't directly involved in a goal, as Florian Wirtz stole the show with a brace and two assists, Karl showed flashes of his exceptional talent.
He caused the Swiss defence all sorts of problems after coming on, twice weaving his way into the box before pulling the ball back for a team-mate. Leon Goretzka saw his effort blocked from Karl's first bit of creative magic, and from the second, the ball was eventually worked to Wirtz for the winner in the 85th minute.
Germany's next game is against Ghana on Monday, where Karl will be hoping to make his first national team start.
