Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl faces spell on sidelines
Bayern Munich will be without Lennart Karl for the foreseeable future after the attacking midfielder suffered a muscle fibre tear in the back of his right thigh.
With a packed schedule ahead for Germany’s record champions, Karl’s exact comeback date is currently unknown. The club are yet to outline a roadmap for his return, but the teenager won't feature against St. Pauli on Saturday.
The 18-year-old is enjoying a breakout 2025/26 having returned five goals and provided four assists in 24 Bundesliga appearances, including the game-winning goal in Matchday 28’s crucial stoppage-time comeback win against Freiburg to secure a 3-2 victory after being 2-0 down.
Bayern's No.42 has also struck four times and has registered two assists in seven UEFA Champions League outings this term, establishing himself as a valuable asset for Vincent Kompany.

However, Karl's injury doesn't just present a potential selection headache for Kompany - the forward was handed his first two senior caps for Germany in the most recent international break by Julian Nagelsmann, who was full of praise for the starlet, saying: "He made a great impression - confident, but also humble.”
As such, with no return date specified, it remains to be seen whether Karl's dreams of a World Cup place is now in jeopardy.
