Bayern Munich break Real Madrid's European scoring record
Bayern Munich have set a new record for goals in consecutive games among teams playing in Europe's top five leagues, per UEFA coefficient.
Having equalled a best-mark set in 2016/17 by Real Madrid in Tuesday's Supercup win over Borussia Dortmund, Bayern claimed the record outright thanks to Robert Lewandowski's strike against Cologne on Matchday 2 of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season.
It means the record champions have now scored at least once in 74 competitive matches, dating back to 9 February 2020, when they were held to a goalless draw by now coach Julian Nagelsmann's RB Leipzig.
Bayern have found the net 214 times since that unaccustomed blank, with reigning FIFA Best Player Robert Lewandowski accounting for 72 of them.
Other scorers across a prolific spell that has yielded successive Bundesliga titles, the DFB Cup, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and back-to-back German Supercups include Thomas Müller, German teenager Jamal Musiala and Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies.
Previous record holders Madrid, who had Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in their ranks, totalled 200 goals during their hot streak.

It is the second time in the modern era that Bayern have reset the bar, after stringing together an unbroken scoring spell of 61 games between 2012 and 2014.
As well as Madrid's European record, the 30-time Bundesliga champions break a famous club run by Pele's Santos in the early 1960s of scoring in 73 straight matches.
