RB Leipzig sign winger Ayodele Thomas from PSV Eindhoven
RB Leipzig have further strengthened their squad this January window with the addition of promising Dutch winger Ayodele Thomas, who joins them from PSV Eindhoven.
The 18-year old also represented Feyenoord at youth level, before making the move to Eredivisie rivals PSV in 2023, initially joining up with their U17 squad.
The talented winger has made 18 appearances for the club’s U21 side this season, registering three goals and six assists, consequently catching the eye of those at the Red Bull Arena.
“Dele is a great talent who fits perfectly with our playing philosophy,” said Marcel Schäfer, Leipzig’s managing director of sport. “He’s a fast, skillful, and agile winger who always seeks out one-on-one situations. We’re delighted that Dele has chosen RB Leipzig so we can develop him step by step and unlock his outstanding potential.”
Thomas joins Brajan Gruda, Abdoul Koné and Suleman Sani through the door at Leipzig this January, as Die Roten Bullen look to keep pace in the race for the top four.
“I’m very happy to be a part of RB Leipzig from now on,” said the Netherlands U19 international.
“Leipzig consistently demonstrates its commitment to young players, developing them to their full potential and making them better. I want to seize this opportunity, train hard, help the team, and prove myself in the Bundesliga, one of the best leagues in the world.”
Thomas will wear the No.21 for his new side, who are next in action away at Cologne on Sunday.
