What a signing this man has been! Kömür, who has also been terrific today, cuts inside from the left and attempts a long-range shot, which is poorly parried by Nicolas. Gregoritsch is perfectly positioned from a few yards out to capitalise on the keeper's error and score Augsburg's third goal. That was pure poacher's instinct from the Austrian forward.

Key contribution

Augsburg's Michael Gregoritsch and Gladbach's Haris Tabaković have been crucial to their respective sides' fortunes. The former, who returned on loan in the January transfer window, has four goals and two assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances in 2026. Meanwhile, Tabaković's goal against Dortmund was his 12th of the season, meaning he has now netted 32 percent of his team's top-flight strikes in 2025/26, which is the highest proportion in the Bundesliga.

The Foals have been impressive at the back this term. Their record of 12 clean sheets is the second-highest in the division, second only to Dortmund's 14. It is their best tally since the 2018/19 campaign, when they managed 13.

Both sides looked in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle, until they made changes in the dugout. Eugen Polanski has amassed 1.17 points per game compared to predecessor Gerardo Seoane's 1.13, while Manuel Baum has overseen a significant improvement at Augsburg, picking up 0.4 points per game more than the man he replaced, Sandro Wagner (1.5 to 1.1).
