Full-time: Augsburg 3-1 Gladbach

Augsburg are firmly in the hunt for European football after a brilliant 3-1 home win against Gladbach. Gregoritsch scored a clinical brace to take another step closer to becoming the club's all-time record goalscorer in the Bundesliga, with Fellhauer also getting on the scoresheet. The result moves Baum's side level on points with eighth-placed Frankfurt, while Gladbach remain in 11th.

Gladbach get one back!

Reitz gets on the end of a searching cross into the Augsburg box, and inventively pulls the ball back for the waiting Reyna - who cooly slots the ball past a helpless Dahmen. It's Reyna's first Gladbach goal, and quite possibly Reitz's final assist for the club.

Reitz denied

Machino plays a tidy give and go with Reitz, who gets two chances to try and set up a teammate inside the Augsburg penalty area. However, on both occasions, his attempted passes are cut out.

Leaving the pitch, but entering the record books

Gregoritsch is replaced by Ribeiro for the final 10 minutes. He only needs two more goals to become Augsburg's all-time record goalscorer in the Bundesliga.

Gregoritsch makes it three!

What a signing this man has been! Kömür, who has also been terrific today, cuts inside from the left and attempts a long-range shot, which is poorly parried by Nicolas. Gregoritsch is perfectly positioned from a few yards out to capitalise on the keeper's error and score Augsburg's third goal. That was pure poacher's instinct from the Austrian forward.

Hack tries his luck

The Gladbach sub finds a pocket of space just outside the opposition penalty area and decides to shoot. His effort is too central, and is well held by Dahmen in the Augsburg net.

Massengo and Keitel are on for the home side, as we enter the final 30 minutes of play. The latter is making his first Augsburg appearence since February.

Ullrich can't get there!

Gladbach work the ball well through Reitz and then Stöger. It eventually goes out to Scally on the right side of the Augsburg box, who tries to find Ullrich at the far post. However, it's too far ahead of the German as he can't quite keep the ball in play.

Pure dominance

While Gladbach have enjoyed more of the ball, they've done very little with it, as the graphic shows.

Augsburg aren't done just yet. Kade skips away from Ullich down the right channel and darts inside the Gladbach area. He is eventually foiled by Nicolas, who parries the ball away to relative safety - but for how long?

Nearly an own goal from Fellhauer!

The Augsburg man almost scored his second goal of the game - but this time at the wrong end of the pitch. A dangerous Mohya ball across the six-yard box is cut out by Fellhauer, who just about turns it away for a corner.

Half-time: Augsburg 2-0 Gladbach

They may have had less of the ball so far, but hosts Augsburg are great value for their 2-0 lead. Gregoritsch, Kömür and Kade have combined tremendously so far, especially when racing away on the counter-attack. While qualification for Europe remains a tough ask, the Bavarians are doing all they can to put the teams above them in the Bundesliga table under some serious pressure.

Almost 3-0!

Gregoritsch nearly grabs an assist after his cushioned tee-up finds Kömür inside the Gladbach box. The Augsburg attacker can't quite get power or direction on his header, however, which trickles wide.
camera-photo

That one will count!

Augsburg have scored their second of the game - and this one is certainly going to stand. It's another swooping counter that ends with Kömür playing the ball into the path of Fellhauer, who has acres of free space to run into on the overlap. The wing-back keeps his composure and finds the back of the net to double the home side's lead. What a display this has been so far!

Pressure from Gladbach

The visitors are looking to back on level terms through Machino. The forward works the ball into the penalty area, where Honorat is waiting to shoot. Gouweleeuw blocks well to deny the Frenchman, although play is then pulled back for an offside violation.

Kömür tests the keeper

Gregoritsch turns provider this time, playing a delicate through ball for Kömür to run onto. He takes a touch on the left side of the Gladbach box and shoots - but his effort is straight at Nicolas.

Gregoritsch scores again...or does he?

What a team goal this would have been! Kade floats a lovely ball to the back post, where Kömür is waiting, who heads it into the path of Gregoritsch for another tap-in. However, there is a marginal offside, and as such, the goal is ruled out.

Augsburg take the lead!

The European dream is ON! A through ball finds Fellhauer in space on the left. His attempted shot at goal is deflected back into the six-yard box, where Gregoritsch reacts first to roll the ball home and hand his side a valuable lead.

Big Matsima clearance!

Gladbach work a good chance for the first time this afternoon. A cross comes to Scally at the back post, who hooks the ball back into the six-yard box. Fortunately for Augsburg, Matsima is there to intercept and clear the ball away. Stöger then has a speculative shot from range that flies well wide.

Bright start from hosts

Giannoulis has enjoyed some space down the left channel so far. His attempted cross into the Gladbach box is a little too long on this occasion, but the early signs are good from Augsburg.

Key contribution

Augsburg's Michael Gregoritsch and Gladbach's Haris Tabaković have been crucial to their respective sides' fortunes. The former, who returned on loan in the January transfer window, has four goals and two assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances in 2026. Meanwhile, Tabaković's goal against Dortmund was his 12th of the season, meaning he has now netted 32 percent of his team's top-flight strikes in 2025/26, which is the highest proportion in the Bundesliga.
camera-photo

Gladbach's defensive solidity

The Foals have been impressive at the back this term. Their record of 12 clean sheets is the second-highest in the division, second only to Dortmund's 14. It is their best tally since the 2018/19 campaign, when they managed 13.
camera-photo

Catalyst for change

Both sides looked in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle, until they made changes in the dugout. Eugen Polanski has amassed 1.17 points per game compared to predecessor Gerardo Seoane's 1.13, while Manuel Baum has overseen a significant improvement at Augsburg, picking up 0.4 points per game more than the man he replaced, Sandro Wagner (1.5 to 1.1).
camera-photo

Gladbach's away struggles

In contrast, Gladbach are without a win in their last 10 games on the road, amassing 14 away points in total. Only five sides have managed fewer.
camera-photo

Augsburg's home comforts

Die Fuggerstädter's improvement has been particularly noticeable at home. They have lost just one of the last 11 games at the WWK Arena, a run which includes draws against Hoffenheim and Frankfurt. In their first five home games of the season, they managed three points, compared to 20 since.
camera-photo

Augsburg on the up

Having secured their Bundesliga status for another campaign, Augsburg are now targeting an unlikely European spot. They're unbeaten in five matches and are only four points adrift of Freiburg in seventh, which would be enough for a place in next season's UEFA Conference League.
