This will be the 100th Rhine derby between Cologne and Gladbach in the Bundesliga. The Billy Goats have won 28 to Borussia's 53, with 18 ending all square.

Cologne were eight points better off than Gladbach prior to the teams' previous meeting. Now, they're three points behind their much-improved Rhine rivals, not helped by a return of just two points from their last six games.

Defensive ups and downs

Gladbach kept their 10th clean sheet of the season in last week's win over St. Pauli. Only second-placed Borussia Dortmund have recorded more shut-outs (12), but six teams have a worse overall defensive record than the Foals after 26 games (43 goals against).
