Full-time: Stuttgart 1-0 RB Leipzig

Stuttgart take a big step towards UEFA Champions League qualification next season thanks to Undav's second-half winner. In what proved to be a fairly even contest throughout, it was a mistake from Leipzig keeper Vandevoordt which turned the game on its head, as his misplaced pass gave the in-form Undav a simple chance to score - which he took full advantage of. RBL captain Orbán hit the post late on with a header, but Stuttgart ultimately held on for a huge three points on home soil.

Good chance for Gruda!

A cross into the Stuttgart box finds the head of Gruda, who tries to direct it goalwards - only for it to be blocked by his teammate Bakayoko! The young German has his head in his hands as the shot looked goal-bound.

Assignon replaces Leweling

Leweling does indeed go off, with Assignon the man to replace him for the final 10 minutes or so. With a FIFA World Cup on the horizon, let's hope the injury is nothing serious for the German international.

Injury for Leweling?

The winger goes to the ground with nobody around him. He then gets up and keeps on playing, but looks like he's about to be brought off by Hoeneß as he continues to limp slightly.

Half-time: Stuttgart 0-0 RB Leipzig

Both sides created good opportunities in the first-half, but for the time being, the scoreline remains stubbornly stuck at 0-0. Diomande has been a contast threat for Leipzig down the right, although their best chance arrived at the feet of Baumgartner, who really should have done better with just the keeper to beat. Stuttgart, meanwhile, have enjoyed more possession and created some decent openings of their own, notably through Demirović, who headed wide from a few yards out. As things stand, both sides will move on to 48 points in the Bundesliga table, moving three clear of Leverkusen in sixth.

Rômulo booked

The forward arrives late to challenge Stiller for the ball and picks up a yellow card. The Stuttgart midfielder is in some pain but soon gets back to his feet.
35'

Demirović heads wide!

How is this still 0-0? Stuttgart have a big chance of their own through Demirović, who is picked out beautifully in the six-yard box by Führich. The Bosnian forward has time and space to choose his corner, but he can't do so, as his header is well off target. It's another chance gone begging...
33'

Big miss from Baumgartner!

What an opportunity for the Leipzig midfielder! Raum has the ball and plays an inch-perfect through-ball for Baumgartner, who is in one v one with just Nübel to beat. However, his bouncing effort balloons over the crossbar from close range. It's the best chance of the game so far.
30'

Respite for the visitors

Ole Werner's side are able to venture forward and eventually win a corner. However, it's dealt with comfortably by Stuttgart, who have since re-established possession.

Leipzig penned in

Stuttgart are enjoying a good five-minute spell, having created a handful of decent openings. After a sweeping El Khannouss cross, Führich decides to shoot on the volley from a very tight angle, but can only find the side netting.

Demirović goes close

It's the first time the hosts have threatened so far in the final third. Demirović collects the ball on the edge of the RBL box, shifts it onto his right foot and shoots. However, it takes a deflection off Orbán and spins just wide for a corner.

Hosts look to control the game

Already, a pattern of play is beginning to emerge. Stuttgart are holding onto the ball nicely, while Leipzig are very much looking to play on the counter, utilising pace from wide areas.

Diomande threatens again

The Leipzig winger has another chance to take on Hendriks. Once again, he gets the better of the Stuttgart defender, but can't find a teammate in the box. Moments later, Seiwald shoots from range, but it's straight at Nübel.
7'

Ball runs away from Undav

Stuttgart go back down the other end of the pitch through Führich. The winger slides a through-ball to Undav, but on this slick pitch, it just gets away from him and goes out for a goal-kick.

Rômulo can't connect!

What a sweeping counter that was. it all starts with Diomande, who has a chance to stretch his legs down the right. He knocks the ball past Hendriks and whips in a low cross to Rômulo, but the forward can't quite direct his sliding shot goalwards.

How things stand

Both sides have identical records having each won 14, drawn five and lost six of their 25 league games up until now. Therefore, a win for either side would put them level on points with third-placed Hoffenheim, with Stuttgart already occupying fourth-place on goal difference.

Ole Werner on facing Stuttgart

"Stuttgart are a very good side. It’s never easy to go there and win. Our own performances over the last few weeks give me confidence, and it’s also a big plus that we've now got more players available again. I’m expecting a very even game, much like the reverse fixture. We’re looking forward to it, and we’re confident we can take all three points.”

Work to be done in the second leg

In the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie, Stuttgart suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Portuguese league leaders Porto at the MHP Arena on Thursday evening. The visitors assumed a two-goal lead in the first half before Deniz Undav halved the deficit just before the break. Angelo Stiller thought he had levelled it late on, but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Germany's best

Stuttgart's Deniz Undav has scored in each of his last four league games to take his season total to 15 Bundesliga goals. He's the top-scoring German national, while only Bayern Munich counterpart Harry Kane has scored more across the division (30).
