Full-time: Freiburg 0-1 Union Berlin

What an ending we had! With both teams at a stalemate, Jeong struck late to boost Union's survival hopes as Baumgart's side inflict a first home defeat on Freiburg since August.

Incredible save!!

Wow! Union can only clear the ball as far as Beste, who unleashes a curling left-footed effort from outside the area, but Raab - on his debut - is equal to it, pulling off a magnificent save.

Last chance saloon

Beste takes the resulting corner with Atubolu up, but it amounts to nothing.

Freiburg want a penalty

Raab rises above everyone to punch the ball clear but he catches Ogbus. However, the referee waves play on. Corner.
90'

There it is!!!

It's the substitute who breaks the deadlock and it's the former Freiburg player. Jeong collects the ball on the right, drifts inside before placing a curling effort into the bottom corner past Atubolu.

Eggestein shoots...

...But Raab is on hand again. The Freiburg midfielder is unable to generate enough power on it to trouble the Union 'keeper.

Substitution

87'

Another change

It's a change at left-back for Freiburg, with Günter replacing Makengo.
84'

Matanović denied

The Freiburg man gets free of his marker, but his low drive is easily saved by Raab, who hasn't really been troubled all afternoon.
80'

Defensive changes

Baumgart is setting up shop now, as defensive-minded players Kemlein and Juranovic enter the fray.
79'

Corner

Grifo's first action is to whip in a corner, but it's cleared at the near post by Král.
78'

Double change

It's an attacking change for Freiburg, who introduce Grifo and Beste.
camera-photo

Strong debut

Raab is making his Bundesliga debut today and, as of now, has delivered a strong performance.
camera-photo

Over!

Union win a free-kick in a dangerous position but much like Scherhant's at the other end, Burcu fires his effort well over the crossbar.
69'

That was close!

Almost an instant impact! With practically his first touch of the ball, Král brings it under control before firing a low shot towards goal, which is saved by Atubolu.
65'

Double change

A defensive substitute in the Union ranks as Král replaces Ansah. In attack, it's like for like as Jeong comes on for Skarke.

63'

Good omens

Freiburg have scored in each of their last 22 games across all competitions at home. Can they find a way through here?
63'

Chance!

That's probably the best chance of the game but Union manage to block Manzambi's attempt from close range.
62'

Freiburg blink first

Höler has been unable to impose himself on the game. Suzuki comes on in his place.
58'

Freiburg probe

It's a similar story to the first half as Freiburg control possession which is reflected in their passing metric, while Union are happy to sit deep and look to counter-attack, hence their lower accuracy.

Ooft!

The free-kick is almost too close to the goal. With Grifo on the bench, Scherhant fires his effort over with pace when placing it might have been the better option.
53'

Positive!

Manzambi collects the ball and drives forward, winning a free-kick in a dangerous situation on the edge of the box after being brought down by Nsoki.
49'

High pressing

Union look to break through on the counter-attack, but Freiburg are alert to the situation. That could have been dangerous!

We go again

Freiburg get the ball rolling with both teams remaining unchanged. Who will break the deadlock first?

No way through

Union are doing an excellent job of squeezing Freiburg into central positions. Both Scherhant and Irié have cut inside in the last moments but Doekhi and Co. are, so far, proving an immovable object as the hosts struggle to find a way through.
36'

Teasing cross

Freiburg continue to control the majority of the possession and their next chance arrives when Makengo whips a delicious low cross into the penalty area, but Union are able to clear.
camera-photo

Posing a threat

Most of Freiburg's attacks have come through Irié, who has been dangerous for the hosts.
32'

Over!

Doekhi's shot is blocked by Ogbus and the rebound finds Burcu, but his left-footed attempted sails over Atubolu's crossbar.

Level pegging

It remains goalless as we pass the midway point of the first half.
22'

Another chance!

Chances are arriving in quick succession now for Freiburg. Scherhant drives forward down the left before cutting inside and bending one, but Raab is alert to the danger and is able to gather the ball.
21'

Eggestein shoots!

But it takes a deflection and goes behind from a corner which is met by the head of Ginter. The Freiburg defender is unable to generate any power on it, allowing Raab to gather with ease.
camera-photo

Tightly contested

It's proving an intense and physical battle in the opening exchanges, with neither side yet to find a breakthrough.
18'

First caution

Köhn goes in late on Manzambi, and is shown the first card.
15'

That's more promising

Freiburg are finding their shooting boots now. Cutting inside from the right, Irié tries his luck from distance but it goes high over Raab's crossbar.
13'

First shot for Freiburg

Irié's silky dribbling brings two Union defenders out of position. The youngster finds Treu who passes inside for Eggestein. The Freiburg midfielder tries his luck from just inside the area, but it sails over.
10'

Union more threatening

Freiburg have seen more of the ball, but they've been unable to create any real chances. Union, meanwhile, have looked more dangerous going forward and have managed two shots.

Visitors probing

Again it's the hosts who look more promising going forward. This time Ilić lays the ball off to Köhn but instead of shooting, he chips in a ball towards the far post, which just eludes the advancing Burcu.
2'

Lively start

Already Union are showing intent. Burcu collects the ball in a central position and plays it wide to Köhn, who takes a touch before unleashing a long range effort towards Atubolu, who is able to get down low to collect the ball.

First leg setback

On Thursday evening, the Breisgauers suffered a 1-0 away defeat at the hands of Belgian side Genk in their UEFA Europa League last 16 first-leg tie. Freiburg netted a disallowed goal in the opening few minutes through Johan Manzambi, but couldn't find the back of the net proper for the remainder of the game, meaning Julian Schuster's side have to overturn a 1-0 deficit on home soil next week to stay in the European competition.

Union's Mr Evergreen

Union captain Christopher Trimmel is the Bundesliga's oldest active outfield player. The Austrian will move ninth in the all-time rankings, level with Günter Sebert, if he features against Freiburg. He will be aged 39 years and 19 days.

More than a defender

Ginter has scored in each of Freiburg's last two Bundesliga home games. The German defender has also registered three assists so far this season.

Freiburg's 16-game unbeaten home run (W12, D4) is their longest in all competitions for over 20 years. The Black Forest club enjoyed a 17-match stretch from 2002 into 2003, albeit as a Bundesliga 2 club.

Watch: Union 1-4 Bremen - highlights

Union took the lead against Werder Bremen, but things unravelled very quickly after András Schäfer's 19th-minute red card. Die Eisernen are now just four points clear of the relegation zone, after winning one of their last 10.
