Full-time: Frankfurt 3-3 Dortmund

And breathe! A remarkable finish in Frankfurt, with injury-time goals from both sides as Dortmund - who led twice - rescue a dramatic point. BVB stay second, while Eintracht miss the chance to climb to fifth.

They've done it!

Chukwuemeka snatches the lead from Frankfurt at the last! The BVB sub gets lucky as he tries to control Sabitzer's right-wing cross. The ball bounces back up off Kristensen, hits him on the leg and he tucks it past the goalkeeper. There's a check for a possible handball, but the goal stands.

What a finish!

Frankfurt's debutants combine to bring the hosts level for the second time. Kalimuendo turns away brilliantly on halfway and immediately releases Ebnoutalib, who holds off Süle and hammers high past Kobel. He was playing in Germany's fourth tier little over a year ago!

Eight more seasons of Deutsche Bank Park

Eintracht and Deutsche Bank today extended their agreement regarding naming rights of the club's Deutsche Bank Park stadium. The deal - in place since 2020 - will take the collaboration through to 2035.

Here's how the winter signing's first day unfolded as a new Eintracht player.

Koch on his goals for 2026

"Obviously I want to go to the World Cup, which can only happen by performing for your club. First and foremost, we need to have success here, so my focus right now is clearly on Eintracht. Everything else leading up to the World Cup then stems from that."
camera-photo

Koch on Frankfurt's defence

"In terms of being compact, it's about how the entire team defends. We were maybe a bit too generous in some scenarios, especially on the counter. I believe we're one of the worst in the Bundesliga in that regard. It doesn't really work, so we need to get better in that respect."
camera-photo

Robin Koch on facing Dortmund

"Against Dortmund, who have huge quality, we need to be solid in defence. We need intensity in our play - we showed against BVB in the DFB Cup that we can do that. It's that mentality and approach from the cup game that we're going to need."
camera-photo

Niko Kovač on facing Eintracht Frankfurt

"We know that Eintracht have conceded a lot of goals, but they have also scored a lot. This means that we are facing a very strong opponent in attack. We already saw in the DFB Cup that it won't be an easy game. It will certainly be a close match for 90 minutes, with hopefully a better outcome for us."
camera-photo

Dino Toppmöller on facing Dortmund

"Under Niko Kovač, Dortmund have become more solid defensively and work incredibly hard. We still have a small score to settle after our defeat in the cup. We're expecting a good battle."

Kauã Santos to start in goal

Dino Toppmöller has confirmed that Kauã Santos will replace Michael Zetterer in goal against Dortmund on Friday. "He's done very well in the little time we've had before the restart," Toppmöller said at Thursday's press conference. "We're putting our faith in him."

Early Dortmund team news

Aarón Anselmino is out of this one with a muscular injury, while Jobe Bellingham remains suspended following his red card against Freiburg on Matchday 14. Ramy Bensebaini is still with Algeria at AFCON and goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is a doubt after falling ill at BVB's training camp in Marbella, but Niko Kovač otherwise has a full squad at his disposal.

Early Frankfurt team news

Dino Toppmöller will be without Jonathan Burkardt, Michy Batshuayi and Elias Baum, all three of whom are struggling with injuries. Ellyes Skhiri was knocked out of AFCON with his Tunisia side at the weekend and could therefore be in the squad, although he has been given time off to recover from the tournament initially. Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, meanwhile, fell ill earlier in the week and is a doubt.

Better luck for Frankfurt in 2026?

2025 did not end on a good note for Eintracht, as they managed to win just one of their final six games in all competitions. A new calendar year promises a fresh start, though, even if Dortmund provide a tough test.

Head-to-head

Dortmund have had the upper hand in recent times against Frankfurt, going unbeaten in 15 of the last 17 Bundesliga fixtures between the two sides. However, Frankfurt did prevail in the last top-flight meeting, on Matchday 18 of last term (2-0).

Fresh Frankfurt firepower

Likewise, Eintracht have been active in the early stages of the winter transfer window. Younes Ebnoutalib, who led the Bundesliga 2 goalscoring charts in the first half of the season with 12 goals in 17 appearances for Elversberg, has come in alongside Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab, Love Arrhov, Keita Kosugi, Keito Kumashiro and Arnaud Kalimuendo. Elye Wahi, meanwhile, has gone out on loan to French side Nice.

Dortmund departures

Dortmund will travel to Frankfurt without Pascal Groß, who returned to join former team Brighton and Hove Albion at the start of January on a permanent deal. Cole Campbell has also left, joining fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim on loan.

Formidable visitors

Dortmund have lost just one of their last 23 Bundesliga games, with their only defeat in that period coming against Bayern Munich on Matchday 7.
