Six players missing

While Leipzig have lost the in-form Yan Diomande (Ivory Coast) and Amadou Haidara (Mali) to the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on Sunday in Morocco, Leverkusen have been Germany's hardest-hit club with four key players competing at the tournament in Ibrahim Maza (Algeria), Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso), Christian Kofane (Cameroon) and Eliesse Ben Seghir (Morocco).

After two consecutive Bundesliga defeats, Leverkusen turned things around last time out when winning the Rhine derby against Cologne. Currently fourth in the standings, Saturday's visitors could climb above Leipzig with a win.

Record target

Leipzig have won all six of their home games this season. The Saxony-based side can now equal their club record of seven consecutive Bundesliga home wins at the start of a campaign, which they achieved in their debut season in 2016/17.

After fighting back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the BayArena early in the 2024/25 campaign, they overturned another 2-0 deficit on home soil, this time securing a 2-2 draw.
