Hoeneß is still without Ermedin Demirović, Luca Jaquez, Yannik Keitel and Dan-Axel Zagadou, while Lorenz Assignon is suspended. Noah Darvich, who has not been with the first-team squad much this term, is also out with a muscle problem.

For Steffen, Felix Agu, Mitchell Weiser and Maximilian Wöber are out, while Victor Boniface is a doubt due to a knee issue. Defender Niklas Stark is suspended.

Stuttgart win big in Europa League

The Swabians put in a dominant display on Thursday as they saw off Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-1 at the MHPArena, with defenders Maximilian Mittelstädt, Lorenz Assignon and Josha Vagnoman all getting on the scoresheet along with Tiago Tomás. The win puts Stuttgart right in the hunt for the round of 16 automatic qualification places.

Werder have claimed 11 of their 16 points after 13 games on home soil. They're currently unbeaten in four at the Weser, where they've only lost one of their last 10 (3-0 to Freiburg on Matchday 4 of the current campaign).

Goals on the cards, at least for Bremen

There's never been a goalless draw in 56 Bundesliga games between the two sides in Bremen, with Werder always scoring at least once.

A game of firsts

Defeat to Bayern - the heaviest of the Sebastian Hoeneß era - was Stuttgart's first at home in the Bundesliga this season. They've now lost two straight league games - another first in 2025/26 - and are, like Bremen, winless in three for the first time this term.
