Full-time: Mainz 1-1 Hoffenheim

It ends all square at the MEWA Arena after an exhilarating second half. Mainz started brightly, attacking the Hoffenheim box and pressing with purpose, something they managed to maintain throughout the half. After struggling to deal with the pressure initially, Hoffenheim came back into the game, with both sides creating plenty of chances in and end-to-end half. Mainz eventually got their reward though, with Danny Da Costa bundling home from a corner. Hoffenheim responded, almost equalising through Lemperle and Bebou's disallowed goal, but they couldn't stop their winning streak from coming to an end.

Goal! Mainz have equalised!

Amiri's deep corner from the right isn't cleared and Hollerbach tries to get a shot off on the swivel. He doesn't manage to connect, but the ball lands at the feet of Da Costa, who slots home from close range!

Goal probability determines the likelihood that the ball will land in the goal from every position on the pitch. The value is based on large amounts of data from previous years; factors such as shot angle, distance to goal and opponent pressure - as well as mathematical models.

Mwene with a great chance!

Nebel does well to attract a few Hoffenheim defenders toward him by the left-hand side byline, before cutting back to Mwene inside the box. However, with time and space, the full-back fires over the bar.

Half-time: Mainz 0-1 Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim go into the break a goal up and much the happier side. They've hardly been tested defensively, and although they didn't create too much aside from their goal, they've been much the better team. Mainz will have to improve if they're to grab a result, and luckily are only chasing a one-goal deficit.

More on those teams

Hoffenheim make just one change from their win against RB Leipzig last time out, with Fisnik Asllani coming back into the staring XI in place of Tim Lemperle. Mainz also make a singular change from their last game against Eintracht Frankfurt, with Andreas Hanche-Olsen coming in for Danny da Costa.

Bo Henriksen on facing Hoffenheim

"We want to play well and win. Of course, this should also be a bit of a fresh start. It's about giving 100 percent and believing we can win the games. Courage is the most important thing for the entire club right now."

Christian Ilzer on facing Mainz

"The thing about Mainz is their energetic style of play. You have to be able to match them in every aspect. We know we have a tough game ahead of us. Even if they're not doing so well in the standings, I have a very good understanding of this team's strength."

Amiri a doubt

Mainz may be without star midfielder Nadiem Amiri for Hoffenheim's visit. He pulled out of the Germany squad during the international break with an adductor problem and faces a race against time to be fit for Friday.

Hoffenheim duo score as Czechia secure play-off spot

Vladimir Coufal and Robin Hranáč were on the scoresheet for Czechia as they defeated Gibraltar 6-0, booking a place in the play-offs for a spot at next year's FIFA World Cup. Elsewhere, Max Moerstedt scored twice in a 5-0 win for Germany's U21s over Italy.

Baumann milestone on the horizon

The Hoffenheim captain is set to make his 500th Bundesliga appearance should he start between the sticks against Mainz. He will become the 14th player to reach that number, with Charly Köbel top of the pile of 602 outings.

Club record beckons

Hoffenheim have won their last four Bundesliga games, their longest winning streak for over two years. A fifth straight win would see them equal a club record.

Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 Mainz - highlights

It's been quite the role reversal, with Mainz - seventh last season and into the UEFA Conference League via the play-offs - the ones now fighting for their top-flight lives. The 05ers' narrow derby loss in Frankfurt was their seventh of the campaign, and sent them into the November international break in the automatic relegation zone. Bo Henriksen's side have won just once in the league all season, but three points against Hoffenheim could lift them back into the safe house.

Hoffenheim 3-1 Leipzig - highlights

Hoffenheim consolidated sixth place with a comeback win over high-flying RB Leipzig, who were unbeaten in eight league games before their trip to the PreZero Arena. Christian Ilzer's side have now won six of 10 Bundesliga matches this term - one less than the Sinsheimers managed across the entire 2024/25 season, when they finished just three points clear of the relegation play-off spot.
