Full-time: Bayern 2-2 Dortmund

An enthralling Klassiker ends all square in Munich. Dortmund took the lead against the run of play through Beier, only for substitutes Guerreiro and Gnabry to put Bayern on course. BVB found a response, though, with Anton pouncing to ensure a deserved share of the spoils. The record champions go six points clear at the top; Dortmund stay on the fringes of the top six.

Half-time: Bayern 0-0 Dortmund

Dortmund had the first chance through Brandt, but Bayern have asked all the questions ever since. Kobel's been particularly busy for BVB, who will surely make changes before long. They just haven't clicked in an attacking sense and are being overawed defensively.

45'

Uncertain goalkeeping

Urbig opts to punch clear a Ryerson free-kick, when he had time and space to make the catch. That perhaps highlights the young German's relative inexperience married with the pressure-cooker of Der Klassiker.
42'

Off the training ground

Dortmund survive a couple of corners, before winning a set-piece of their own in the Bayern half. Groß hoodwinks the waiting red shirts by spinning a pass out to the left-hand side of the area for Süle, whose ambitious volley is blocked.
39'

One-v-one!

Kim makes a quite brilliant recovery challenge to stop Ryerson playing in Guirassy. Kane helps it on to send Olise racing clear at the other end, but Kobel makes himself big and pushes the Frenchman's shot wide.
37'

Off target

Brandt breaks and wins a corner in a welcome bit of respite for the visitors. The resultant delivery is only half cleared, before Svensson sends a daisy-cutter bobbling wide of the far post.
35'

Stanišić is unmarked as he rises between two Dortmund defenders to meet Kimmich's cross form the right. The Croatian gets right under it, though, heading miles over the crossbar. Best chance of the game, that!

Thomas Müller will equal Mats Hummels' record for most Klassiker appearances (29) upon kick-off. It is set to be his last Klassiker before he departs Bayern at the end of the season, and it would certainly befit his status as a club legend to make an impact on tonight's clash.

Crossing the Klassiker divide

Bayern's Guerreiro is ex-Dortmund, while Süle turned out for the record champions between 2017 and 2022. Born in Munich, Adeyemi spent two years in the club's youth ranks before eventually getting his big break in Austria with Salzburg.

More on those teams

Thomas Müller starts in place of Raphaël Guerreiro in the only change to the Bayern team beaten by Inter in midweek. Kovač goes for more of an overhaul, with five players that started the Barca loss dropping out. Niklas Süle, Daniel Svensson, Pascal Groß, Salih Özcan and Maximilian Beier come in.

Leverkusen stumble!

Union have held the reigning champions to a goalless draw, in a welcome bit of pre-Klassiker news for leaders Bayern. Kompany's charges could have the title sewn up by the end of the month, at this rate.

Kompany talks Klassiker prestige

"Der Klassiker hasn't lost any of its shine," Bayern's head coach said on Friday, noting the sizable gap between the two rivals in the current standings. "Obviously the games against Leverkusen this season were also special. But I grew up with Bayern against Dortmund or Bayern against Bremen being big games. That's still the case. You also look at the start of the season when these games are. I think it's good that there's some extra heat around these games, that they're made special. We need to take the importance into our play tomorrow."

Sun's shining

It's a gorgeous day in the Bavarian capital - sunny, with temperatures hovering around 20C. It's expected to rain goals later on, though. There's not been a 0-0 draw in Der Klassiker in almost a decade, while the last 12 in Munich have each witnessed at least two goals.

Vote for your Man of the Match!

For the first time in a Bundesliga fixture, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the official Man of the Match in this Saturday's Klassiker. Users who are logged into the Bundesliga app will have from the 86th minute until full-time to select the player they thought had the biggest impact on the game.

All to play for

With Leverkusen currently being held at home to Union Berlin, a Klassiker win for Bundesliga leaders Bayern would open up an eight-point lead with five rounds of fixtures to go. Three points for Dortmund, meanwhile, could move them to within one point of the top six, depending on results elsewhere.
camera-photo

Hope for BVB

Bayern have also lost more Bundesliga home games (10) against Borussia than against any other club - including last season's corresponding fixture - and BVB's four league victories at the Allianz Arena is matched only by Gladbach.

Tale of the tape

While Dortmund have suffered more defeats (54) and conceded more goals (224) in the Bundesliga against Bayern than against any other team, the record champions have won just 48.6 percent of their top-flight matches against BVB. They only have a worse win rate against Gladbach (47.8 percent) among current Bundesliga clubs.
camera-photo

Olise the top creator

Nobody has more assists in the Bundesliga this season than Bayern's Michael Olise (ten). The second most productive creative forces involved in Der Klassiker are Dortmund's Pascal Groß and Harry Kane (both seven).
camera-photo

Guirassy's got form

While Kane's 23 goals this season put him well on course to take the top scorer's crown again, Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy has outscored the Bayern striker to be the highest scorer in the second half of the season (with eight goals to Kane's seven).
camera-photo

Seven in seven for Harry

Bundesliga top scorer Harry Kane has seven goals in seven career meetings against Borussia Dortmund for Tottenham and Bayern. After racing into Klassiker history with a hat-trick on his first appearance against Dortmund for Bayern, he will be eager to make an impact tonight having suffered an injury after 30 minutes of the first meeting in November.

First time in almost a decade

Since the summer of 2015, both sides have headed into each Klassiker inside the league's top five, however, with Dortmund currently in eighth place, the gulf between the sides hasn't been bigger in nearly 10 years. However, everyone knows anything can happen in the Klassiker...
camera-photo

Niko Kovač on facing Bayern

“Everyone knows that Bayern Munich are the team with the highest amount of ball possession in the Bundesliga. That means that we have to be ready to run a lot and make a lot of sprints to close down the passing channels. We have to make the most of the moments we get on the ball. It's about everyone being courageous, everyone demanding the ball in order to go forward. We have to work hard and ruthlessly take the opportunities Bayern Munich give us."
camera-photo

Kompany's thoughts on facing Dortmund

Vincent Kompany's pre-Klassiker thoughts

"Results aren't always fair. The result is what it is. It's half-time. We still believe we have a chance in Milan," said the Bayern boss after the 2-1 home loss to Inter in the first leg of the Champions League quarters. "Now we're playing against Dortmund, and that has an importance all its own."
camera-photo

Niko Kovač's pre-Klassiker thoughts

"Well, defeats always hurt, especially big ones. But I saw some good things out there and now it's my job to communicate them to my players. We face Bayern next and they're at a similar level to Barcelona. All in all, over our next two games we need to position ourselves much better defensively. We need to defend together. If we don't do that with intensity against a team like this, who have more than one world-class player, then it's too difficult. I saw players of mine running hard, working hard and having some goal chances."
