FOUR!

Pieper blocks Bellarabi following that shot. The referee points to the spot following consultation with the VAR, with Demirbay slamming in from 12 yards. Deserved goal for the Bayer midfielder - he's run the show.

Ortega throws up a pair of hands to beat away Bellarabi's fierce strike. He's lucky no one was following in. Leverkusen still hunting for a fourth.

ADLI!

Amine Adli takes Amiri's pass in his stride, but blazes over. He had one ruled out last week and was on target in Europe in midweek. It won't be long before he strikes in the Bundesliga.

TRIPLE CHANGE

Another illustration of Bayer's strength in depth as Messrs Alario, Amiri and Bellarabi enter the fray for the final 15 minutes.

Arminia are still plugging away. Klos meets a cross, but it's straight at Hradecky, who is yet to be seriously tested.

LIKE-FOR-LIKE DOUBLE CHANGE

Another impressive shift from Diaby. Paulinho comes on for the Frenchman, while Daley Sinkgraven replaces young Piero Hincapie at left-back. Seoane has quite the squad at his disposal.

FRESH LEGS

Wimmer put in a solid shift for Arminia - he was very unlucky to have a goal ruled out with the scores at 1-0. Schöpf also put in a good shift in midfield. Those two will be key to Bielefeld's survival fight.

SCHICK AT THE DOUBLE!

Curtains for Arminia. Frimpong clips a ball towards the edge of the six-yard box, where Schick steals in ahead of Pieper to head home his sixth Bundesliga goal of the season.

TITLE TALK

After Bayern's shock home loss to Frankfurt earlier today, it's looking very tight at the top of the table heading into the October international break. Bayern lead the way on goal difference (16pts), with Leverkusen (16pts, as things stand), Dortmund and Freiburg (both 15pts) completing the top four. Leverkusen host Bayern on Matchday 8...

SCHICK CHANCE!

Leverkusen are almost in again! Diaby slips a pass into the feet of Schick, who shows fabulous close control to keep the ball away from a pair of Arminia defenders. He reaches the edge of the six-yard box, where a spread-eagle Ortega intervenes with a brave block.
31'

END-TO-END STUFF

Wirtz sends Schick through once again, but his strike is too close to Ortega. Arminia win a corner soon after, with Klos landing a header on the roof of Hradecky's net. Great run from the big man - that's unlucky!

WIRTZ-SCHICK COMBO!

Sensational Leverkusen goal for 2-0. Wirtz fashions an opening out of absolutely nothing. He knows exactly where to find Schick, who sends a fine finish past Ortega.

HIGH DRAMA!

Leverkusen forge ahead as Moussa Diaby reacts fastest in the box to poke a smart finish through the legs of Ortega. Arminia go straight up the other end to equalise through Patrick Wimmer's fabulous backheel, but celebrations are cut short. The referee consults VAR, before ruling the goal out for offside.

TAME HEADER

A ball comes into the box from the Bielefeld right. Okugawa goes up, but doesn't look like he's expecting to receive it. His header is meat and drink for Hradecky.

THIN ICE

After Hincapie is penalised for impeding Wimmer, Brunner goes into the book for a foul on Diaby. Early bookings are never a good sign, especially where full-backs are concerned.

Wirtz lifts a fine ball onto the boot of Schick, but the Leverkusen striker can't keep his volley down. Wirtz already pulling the strings.

THE STORY SO FAR

Leverkusen can return to second place with a win, having only lost to an Erling Haaland-inspired Borussia Dortmund so far this term. They're also the division's third-highest scorers (16) behind Bayern Munich (24) and Dortmund (19). Bielefeld, winless and down in 16th, have scored a joint league low three goals, but rank in the top three for goals conceded (six).

WATCH: FLORIAN WIRTZ UNDER THE TACTICAL MICROSCOPE

Leverkusen's flying start to the season owes much to Florian Wirtz. The match-winner against Mainz last weekend, the 18-year-old has scored in four successive league games, and is the youngest player in history to reach 10 Bundesliga goals. He's also produced four assists, whilst netting twice in as many Europa League matches, making it goals in six appearances on the spin.

MORE ON THOSE TEAMS

Lennart Czyborra shakes off a knock to start at left-back for Bielefeld. Patrick Wimmer also comes into the attack, with Bryan Lasme making way. As for Leverkusen. Gerardo Seoane makes three changes to the side that won 4-0 at Celtic in the Europa League. Odilon Kossounou is passed fit and returns in defence, with Piero Hincapie shifting to left-back at the expense of Mitchel Bakker. Patrik Schick is restored in the lone striker's role, while Amine Adli replaces Paulinho after scoring his first goal for the club as a substitute in Glasgow.
