DOAN SO CLOSE!

A well-hit free-kick from Doan is curling towards the post and Pavlenka takes no chances, pushing the ball beyond for an eighth corner of the game.
86'

EGGESTEIN BOOKED

A late yellow for the midfielder as he brings down Schipplock on the counter.
85'

MORE DEFENSIVE SUPPORT

Groß comes on for Schmid to provide some extra defensive support for these final minutes with Bremen under the cosh.
84'

PIEPER HEADS WIDE

Another dangerous corner, this time from the left, and it's met by Pieper in the middle but his glancing header across goal can't be nudged home by Klos or anyone else in support.
83'

SELKE ON

A bigger body has been called for to help at both ends of the pitch with Selke on for Rashica.
81'

HUGE CHANCE FOR KLOS!

The next big chance for the captain to score from the bench as a corner swings in from the right via Doan. It drops in front of goal and Klos pokes it towards goal once more, only for Pavlenka to make a near-identical save to keep that one out.
80'

A GAME OF CHANCES TAKEN...

Bielefeld have had much more of the attacking output so far this evening, but it's Bremen who are two goals to the good.

BIG CHANCE FOR KLOS!

Bielefeld almost have a goal back with Brunner's long throw-in causing problems again. It's flicked on towards goal by Prietl and Klos is on hand to poke the ball at goal from just a few yards out. Pavlenka is right in front of him to make a big block.
75'

DOUBLE CHANGE

Schipplock and Gebauer now on for the hosts with two midfielders coming off as Frank Kramer goes all-out for a late comeback.
75'

MÖHWALD MAKES IT TWO!

Bremen's lead is doubled with 15 minutes to play through substitute Möhwald. Eggestein plays a tidy one-two with Rashica on the right flank to race into the Bielefeld area and cut the ball across the goal from the byline. It's Möhwald who's then on hard to slot the ball past Ortega into the net.

BREMEN DOUBLE CHANGE

Füllkrug is on again with Sargent's job done, while Möhwald will provide more defensive support in midfield ahead of Bittencourt.
62'

DOUBLE CHANGE

Switching things up in attack now, with Klos and Vlap on with less than half an hour to play.

MAKING LIFE DIFFICULT

Bielefeld had been happy and patient in possession in the first half, but now Bremen have found a way to break their lock on the back and get forward. Schmid curls a shot jusrt wide after Sargent's lay-off with the away side looking bright here.

IN THE RIGHT PLACE

Sargent's fifth goal of the season may well have been his easiest with a tap-in on the line at the back post.
54'

TWO HUGE CHANCES!

Doan fires a shot at the near post of the Bremen goal from close range after some fine dribbling. It's saved by Pavlenka and the rebound is hit by Hartel but blocked by Veljkovic crucially right in front of his own goal.
52'

EARLY CHANGE

Laursen has a knock to his left hamstring and has to come off at the start of this second half with de Medina on.
50'

BIELEFELD NERVOUS

Brunner's pass at the back is almost picked up by the Bremen defence with the hosts slow out of the blocks at the start of this second half.
47'

BREMEN AHEAD!

The dream start to the second half for Bremen but it's a nightmare for Bielefeld and Pieper. Rashica is sent away down the left by Schmid's first-time pass. He looks for Sargent in the middle, but Pieper's block diverts the ball past Ortega at the near post. Sargent looks to have gotten a touch on the ball to put it over the line right at the end.

HEADING FOR THE BREAK

Bielefeld are still piling on the pressure here, with Maier's shot deflecting behind for a corner. The hosts have had three in this first half to zero for Bremen, with Pieper going close from their last one.

FRIEDL BOOKED

The first yellow card of the game is for Bremen's defender as he brings down Doan. He's now suspended against Bayern this coming weekend.
33'

ANOTHER EFFORT WIDE

Sargent's chest down from a Bremen goal kick actually runs through for Hartel, who can then shoot at goal from 25 yards. It's past Pavlenka and the Bremen goal. A sixth attempt of this first half for the hosts.
31'

RASHICA FIRES OVER

A bright opening for Bremen as a quick pass from Veljkovic sends Schmid away down the right. His cross into the middle falls to Rashica, who has his back to goal but can turn to shoot with his left. It's an awkward one though and Ortega watches it sail high over the crossbar.

HUGE CHANCE FOR DOAN!

Another great chance for the opening goal as a long throw-in bounces into the Bremen area. Hartel creates his own luck as he battles for the ball which then drops to the back post with Doan. He moves onto his left and shoots, but Toprak makes a crucial block right at the last second. The home side certainly looking the most likely to open the scoring so far.
24'

SARGENT FIRES WIDE

A first Bremen chance as Sargent brings down a long ball and skips past Pieper before shooting low at goal. It's a shot he drags well wide through, and Agu almost keeps in play before it rolls out on the far side.

EARLY DOMINANCE

Bielefeld controlling over 70% of possession, while Bremen have completed just 60% of their passes.

FINDING THEIR WAY

Bremen beginning to get some possession in the Bielefeld half now, but still not much. Most of their attacking play has come down the left with 75% so far.

A TIGHT EARLY BATTLE

Just three attempts on goal so far, all off target for the hosts who have been on the front foot.
12'

BIELEFELD PRESS

The hosts' superb start continues with their pressing game on point so far. Bremen can hardly keep possession of the ball out of their own half, with Bielefeld staying patient when they win it back.
8'

HUGE CHANCE!

The home side have the first big, big chance of the game and it should really be 1-0. Hartel's corner to the near post is flicked on by Prietl, and it comes for Pieper just a few yards from goal. The defender scored a header at the Allianz Arena but mistimes his leap here and can't angle the ball on target as the ball drifts across goal.
7'

BRIGHT START

The home side have begun this game well and enjoyed most of the possession. Hartel appears to have been given a free-roaming role which has seen him drift wide early on, as well as play through the middle. He'll be looking to link up with the two forwards ahead of him.
4'

DOAN IN SUPPORT

It looks like a front two for Bielefeld, with Doan right up front alongside Voglsammer and Hartel in behind in the No.10 spot. A 4-1-2-1-2 for the home side.

HERE WE GO!

Snow stopped us last time but we'll have no such problems in Bielefeld this evening as the away side get us underway.
Kick-off!

THE DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES

Bremen were second bottom at the same stage in 2019/20, four points adrift of the relegation play-off spot they clinched on the final day.

DOAN BACK, BUT NO KLOS

Japanese international Doan is back to start, but Bielefeld captain Fabian Klos is on the bench. The pair share the lead at the top of the Bielefeld scoring charts on three apiece, but are without a goal in six matches.

ARMINIA'S NOT-SO-SECRET WEAPON

Bielefeld No.1 Stefan Ortega has saved 68.2 percent of shots on his goal this season, putting him seventh league wide. Bremen's Jiri Pavlenka is eighth on the list (68 percent). Ortega has, however, made the most saves of any goalkeeper in the league this season (98).

SARGENT REPORTING FOR DUTY!

USMNT forward Josh Sargent has hit a purple-patch of form in recent weeks. He has scored in consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time in his Bundesliga career and now has four goals for the season, a career-best for a single campaign in the German top-flight.

WATCH: BREMEN 1-0 BIELEFELD - REVERSE FIXTURE

Bittencourt scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over promoted Arminia Bielefeld at the Weser Stadion when these sides last met.

BIELEFELD TEAM NEWS

Injury-hit midfielder Maier was brought in from the cold in place of the suspended Kunze, while Okugawa made his first start since joining the club on loan from Red Bull Salzburg. Joint top scorer Doan was the surprise omission from Kramer's starting line-up, but is recalled after Bielefeld managed just three shots on target at the weekend. Soukou remains out and is joined on the sidelines by Venezuelan forward Cordova, who went off in the first half against Union following a clash of heads. Klos is left on the bench with Voglsammer leading the attack.

BREMEN TEAM NEWS

Sargent has been one of the first names on head coach Kohfeldt's team sheet all season long, and is joined in attack Rashica and Schmid, with Füllkrug dropping back to the bench. Augustinsson drops out in place of Agu at left-back despite coming through unscathed following two games out with a back problem. Bittencourt is a more attack-minded alternative to Möhwald and starts in midfield.
