FÜLLKRUG VOLLEY SAVED

Great strike from the substitute who collects a loose ball after Sargent's aerial challenge of a long ball into the Hertha box. Schwolow is well-placed to save it, though.

SELKE GIVES BREMEN HOPE!

With 20 minutes to play, Bremen have one goal back. It's the former Hertha striker Davie Selke who meets Augustinsson's cross from the left. Selke leaps so high above Mittelstädt that only one man was going to win the header, and he buries it beyond Schwolow at his near post.

DARIDA RUNNING THE SHOW

Two assists for the Hertha No.6 today, as well as covering by far the most ground of any player on the pitch. He also holds the record for longest distance run in a single game in Bundesliga history, with over 14km last season at Borussia Dortmund.

Another counter-attacking goal as Cordoba holds up the ball and finds Darida in midfield. He plays the ball across to the left and Cunha in the Bremen box and he shoots first-time at goal. CHONG LOOKING BRIGHT

The Dutchman, born in Curacao, has made a good start here for Bremen. Operating from the right wing, the two-footed playmaker has been cutting inside onto his left foot more often than not with both dribbles and long passes aplenty. A welcome addition to the Bremen attack so far.

Kick-off!

KICK-OFF FAST APPROACHING!

Get your snacks and drinks ready, sort out your seat in front of the TV or laptop and settle in for Bremen vs. Hertha as we continue the first weekend of the new Bundesliga season. Five games are happening this afternoon across the German top-flight league, so plenty of football to enjoy throughout.

A RARE WINNER TODAY?

In the previous six meetings between these two sides, five matches have ended in draws. Bremen's last win came at home in September 2018, while Hertha's most recent victory over today's hosts came way back in December 2013. Will Hertha write the wrongs of the last seven years today?

HERTHA'S CUP DEFEAT

Hertha Berlin were on the wrong side of the biggest shock of the DFB Cup first round over last weekend. The Bundesliga side came up against promoted Bundesliga 2 side Eintracht Braunschweig, and despite playing their role in an incredible nine-goal thriller, came out on the losing side despite scoring four times. Labbadia will be making sure his players are ready for an even tougher test today against Bremen.

SARGENT'S VOTE OF CONFIDENCE

In the build-up to the new season, Bremen coach Kohfeldt said he "can't imagine a Bundesliga starting XI without Josh Sargent" - after the 20-year-old scored three goals in four pre-season games for Bremen as well as in the DFB Cup first round, who can blame him. Scoring goals was the Green-Whites' major problem last season having scored just 42 last campaign, the fourth-lowest across the league. With Sargent, Selke, Osako and Chong all starting, they certainly have the ability to find the back of the net now.

FANS BACK IN BREMEN

In all but two Bundesliga stadiums across the opening weekend, fans will be in attendance to support their teams. Sadly, at this point, only home fans are allowed in and with a limited number. Today, 8,500 Bremen fans will be in the Weser-Stadion with some already arriving with their first chance to see their team in the flesh in a Bundesliga game since March.

BREMEN TEAM NEWS

After saving their Bundesliga lives with their very last chance in 2019/20 by beating Heidenheim in the relegation play-off, Bremen and Florian Kohfeldt return to action today in the new season. Tahith Chong is the new face in the starting line-up, the winger on loan from Manchester United has already impressed during an unbeaten pre-season campaign. He's part of a potential four-man attack with Yuya Osako, Davie Selke and Josh Sargent all starting. Meanwhile, left-back Marco Friedl starts in the centre of defence alongside captain Niklas Moisander.

HERTHA TEAM NEWS

Bruno Labbadia begins his first full season in charge of Hertha Berlin today and has a few new signings in his starting line-up. Goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow is in to start after joining from Freiburg, while Lucas Tousart also makes his first Bundesliga appearance after his move from Lyon in France.
