ENTERTAINING FROM START TO FINISH

Cologne will be very disappointed to have surrendered a two-goal lead at home - which would have seen them climb up to 9th in the table. Instead, Mainz produced an inspired comeback with clinical finishing from Awoniyi and Kunde to bring the game level. Mainz now have a four-point gap between themselves and Fortuna Düsseldorf behind them in the relegation play-off spot.

ADDED TIME

We're into four minutes of added time here in Cologne. Can we get a winner in the final minutes?
90'

LEISTNER BLOCKS FROM QUAISON

A big chance for the Swede as he breaks into the box, but Cologne defender Leistner makes a fantastic block to deny him.
86'

LEISTNER SO CLOSE!

A floating free-kick to the back post of the Mainz box meets Leistner's run perfectly, but the centre-back's glancing header drifts just wide of the mark.
84'

FIVE CHANGES IN TOTAL

Fresh legs brought on by both sides with two substitutions for the home side and three for Mainz. Who can become a hero and get the winning goal here?
81'

GOALMOUTH SCRAMBLE!

Huge chances for Cologne as Cordoba pokes the ball towards goal from close range, but Müller - with the help of his defence - is somehow able to keep the ball out.
79'

CHANCES AT EITHER END

Cordoba glances a header just wide of the far post at one end, while Quaison almost pokes home beyond Horn at the near post of the Cologne goal for Mainz. Both sides going all out for a winning goal.
77'

CLINICAL MAINZ

The away side have scored twice from just three shots on target, while Cologne have had five efforts on target themselves. It's been a fantastic comeback from Mainz, but who can potentially grab a winner in the final 15?
72'

FANTASTIC GOAL FROM KUNDE!

The powerful midfielder does what he does best, picking up possession 25 yards from goal and just charging his way forward. Beating one, two defenders, none able to challenge him before he poked the ball beyond Horn at his near-post to bring this game level. His third goal of the season and Mainz are back from 0-2 down!

GAME IN THE BALANCE

Mainz have had a better last 10 minutes and were able to find the net with that tidy goal, orchestrated by the pass from Quaison. Cologne need to answer back now by nullifying the pressure or scoring another goal themselves. Still just over 20 minutes to play here in the Cologne sunshine.
65'

HALF CHANCE GOES BEGGING

A nice break for Mainz down the right and Baku pulls the ball back towards Quaison and Onisiwo. The German forward looks to play a dummy for Quaison to then shoot, but the ball bounces off his leg and away.
61'

MAINZ BACK IN IT!

Just as we were about to mention the lack of touches for Quaison being a problem, he plays a pivotal role in the Mainz goal. His through-ball down the right is perfect for Baku to chase, and he then fires the ball in front of the Cologne goal and Awoniyi is there to tap it home beyond Horn for his first Bundesliga goal.

ALMOST THREE!

A fantastic move from Skhiri, collecting the ball 25 yards from goal before weaving his way into the Mainz box and poking a shot at goal. Müller stays big to parry that shot away, though, with Cologne piling on the pressure.
53'

KAINZ HEADS HOME!

It's 2-0 to Cologne and Kainz has the second goal of the game. The ball is quickly played up the pitch by the home side an out to Drexler on the right flank. He crosses deep to the back post where Kainz is perfectly positioned to nod the ball home beyond Müller for his third goal of the season.

HALF CHANCE FOR QUAISON

Finally, Mainz's star man gets involved after a beautiful pass into him from Boetius. The Swede touched went to touch the ball into the box before shooting but couldn't get the right control on it.

SECOND HALF BEGINS

We're back underway in Cologne and a change at the break for the home side with Dominick Drexler on in place of Jan Thielmann.

COLOGNE AHEAD, BUT NOT CLEAR

Mark Uth's first-ever Bundesliga penalty has the home side ahead, and in front since the sixth minute, but both side have had good chances and openings to add to the scoring here. A change of formation has given Mainz for attacking impetus, but Robin Quaison has not been involved enough so far for their liking, and that will need to change if they want to get back into this game in the second half.

ADDED TIME

We'll have two minutes of added time here at the end of the first half.
44'

KAINZ FIRES WIDE

Cologne having a strong end to this second half. It's Kainz, now, who drags a shot wide from the edge of the Mainz box.
41'

UTH SO CLOSE TO A SECOND

Lovely build-up from Cologne as they move the ball up the pitch and from left to right to Thielmann on the right wing. He whips in a fierce cross with Uth closest to it, but he's denied a simple header into the goal by fantastic defending from Baku at the back post, with his header clearing the ball away.
40'

CORDOBA TAKES A KNOCK

The former Mainz striker has been kept quiet by his former side so far, and takes a knock on his left thigh here. He'll be able to continue but is limping at the moment.
35'

MAINZ ON TOP

Since going behind, the game has certainly been in the control of Mainz. Horn has only been forced into a couple of saves, though, and the away side will want to make the most of the pressure they are building before too long.
29'

ONISIWO FORCES A SAVE

More great footwork from Onisiwo as he pushes the ball into space from Quaison's pass and fires a shot across goal from the left side of the box. Horn is down well to poke the ball wide of goal with his finger-tips.
25'

MAINZ ON THE FRONT FOOT

Chances have been few and far between for both sides here but it's Mainz who have enjoyed the majority of the possession so far with 55 per cent. Cologne being reduced to looking for counter-attacks or long balls to break up play. So far, though, it's worked.
22'

THE FORM OF UTH

The German forward's numbers have been fantastic for Cologne so far. Eight games, five goals and four assists and his goal today was the first penalty he has scored in the Bundesliga.
17'

MISTAKE FROM BAKU

The young full-back plays a quick free-kick but passes it straight to a Cologne man. Uth then brings the ball forward in a two-on-two, playing a through ball to Cordoba, but Niakhate makes a great block to bring the chance to an end.
13'

CHANGE OF TACT

There is a change of formation early here, with Mainz resorting to a four-man defence. Baku has dropped to right-back, with St. Juste and Niakhate in the middle and Martin at left-back. That has allowed Boetius to push up to support Onisiwo, with Ji on the right, Quaison on the left and Fernandes partnering Kunde in the centre of midfield.
11'

BIG CHANCE FOR BOETIUS

He gets himself up the pitch and around the box and has a huge chance to bring the game level. Fantastic work from Onisiwo as he powered into the box before cutting the ball back. Boetius took a shot from eight yards out, but the finest of blocks from Leistner sends his behind for a corner.
8'

DEEPER ROLE FOR BOETIUS

The Dutch midfielder - who usually plays in the No.10 role - is playing deeper in midfield today. Coach Beierlorzer said in the build-up that it was a flip of the coin to decide who played between Fernandes and Kunde, with Fernandes then dropping into the centre of a three-man defence. So far, no changes made to that set-up.
6'

UTH FIRES HOME!

The Schalke-loanee steps up and fires home the spot-kick despite Müller going the right way. His fifth goal for Cologne and a deserved lead after a fantastic touch of control from him in the box which led to Niakhate fouling him.

Cologne get the game underway here with the sun shining down on the RheinEnergieStadion.
Kick-off!

HERE COME THE PLAYERS

Both sides are out on the pitch with kick-off just minutes away now.

GESTURE FROM COLOGNE FANS

Fans of the home side today have donated kits, scarfs and even teddy bears to the club to place in the stands which have been placed together to read out "FC" in support of the team today. It can be seen to one side of the pitch and will surely push the home side on today with no fans themselves allowed in the stadium.

QUAISON TO START THE SHOW?

With 12 goals in 24 Bundesliga appearances this season, Mainz top scorer Quaison is averaging a goal every other game. The Sweden international scored a thunderous strike in the reverse fixture in Mainz's 3-1 win. And in two of the eight games he has found the net, Quaison has bagged a hat-trick.

FINALLY A DEBUT FOR DONG-WON JI!

The 28-year-old South Korean forward will finally make his debut for Mainz today having been plagued by injuries this season. The striker had actually joined Mainz at the start of this season, but had been unable to play a single game for his new side such has been his run of luck. It's also his first Bundesliga in almost exactly a year - his last appearance coming on 18 May, 2019.

COLOGNE TO PICK UP WHERE THEY LEFT OFF?

If the table were based purely on the second half of the season, Cologne would be fourth in the standings. It has been an incredible turn around under Markus Gisdol which has seen the Billy Goats win five of their last six matches at home, only losing to Bayern Munich in that period. Two key components of their success - Mark Uth and Jhon Cordoba - start today. Uth has scored more goals against Mainz than any other club, while Cordoba joined Cologne from Mainz and is without a goal in three games against his former employers.

MAINZ TEAM NEWS

For Achim Beierlorzer there has been heavy rotation with some players seemingly struggling for match fitness. Seven changes in all, with Florian Müller in goal for Robin Zentner - who is out for the season with a knee injury. Jean-Paul Boetius makes his first start in the Bundesliga since Matchday 20, while Kunde Malong will make his 50th Bundesliga appearance today.

COLOGNE TEAM NEWS

Three changes made by Gisdol from their last outing for this game. Jan Thielmann, Noah Katterbach and Sebastian Bornauw all come in with Kingsley Ehizibue, Jorge Mere and Ismail Jakobs dropping out. The latter had hope of passing fit for this game, but has not been risked for today. It's a big chance for Thielmann to impress - the 17-year-old will turn 18 next week and this is his first start for the club since Matchday 19.
