CLINICAL SECOND HALF FROM THE FOALS

Three goals in the second half for Gladbach, two of them coming from Lars Stindl, to seal a big win which takes Marco Rose's side into fourth place and keeps the pressure on Bayern Munich who play tomorrow in Cologne. For Fortuna, the first half we a great show of what they're capable of when things work as they should. But they couldn't bring that same energy into the second half.

CLASH OF HEADS

We've got both Alfredo Morales and Tobias Strobl down here after a big clash of heads. Both players are bleeding and receiving treatment on the pitch.

CLASS FROM NEUHAUS!

This young German midfielder is a special, special talent. He latches onto Embolo's chested control of the ball on the edge of the Fortuna box. He keeps the ball in the air with a couple of touches through a pair of defenders into the box before bringing the ball down and lofting it over the oncoming goalkeeper with a cheeky finish. Pure class to make it 1-4.

EMBOLO ALMOST IMMEDIATELY!

The substitutes combine as Herrmann plays the ball across from the right to Embolo on the left. He gets into the box and goes to loft the ball over Kastenmeier, but misses the target.

ANOTHER GREAT GOAL

More quality from Gladbach who score a great team goal to take a two-goal advantage. Thuram finds Wendt on the left and he flicks the ball around a defender to send Zakaria away. The Swiss international battles off a defender before cutting the ball into the box where Stindl is waiting and he finds the net past two defenders sliding to block. Gladbach heading into fourth place.

HENNINGS HAS A GO...

The captain takes aim from range with space around him and sends a rasping left-footed strike bouncing towards goal. Sommer is forced to dive to cover it, but is happy enough to watch it bounce wide of his goal.

ALL-OUT ATTACK

Fortuna throwing bodies forward already here with less than 20 minutes to go. Almost every player is in the Gladbach half when the home side are in possession, looking to pile pressure onto the away side's defence.

FORTUNA SLOW TO GET GOING

It's not been the same Fortuna in the second half so far as we saw in the first. Gladbach's defence being able to control a lot more and that's why we have an early-ish change from Rösler, with Skrzybski coming on for Ampomah.

DOUBLE SAVE DENIES GLADBACH

Kastenmeier to the rescue for the home side with Gladbach piling on the pressure here. First it's Neuhaus who squeezes out a show from the edge of the box while surrounded by defenders. The rebound falls to Thuram, but Kastenmeier is up quickly to make a big save to his right and deny the Frenchman another moment to smile tonight.

MORE MARCUS MAGIC!

Neuhaus plays Thuram in behind the Fortuna defence and he has a big decision to make with Kastenmeier closing him down before his first touch. He can take it round him or play it across to Stindl... he does the latter with a perfect flick beyond the Fortuna shot-stopper and Stindl kindly accepts his gift to put Gladbach back into the lead.

THURAM INVOLVED

The Frenchman has been everywhere for Gladbach so far here. He claimed the assist for the opener with his piece of genius to find Hofmann's run into the box and is once again causing problems early on in the second half. He beats Ayhan to reach the ball before going into the box but couldn't get a shot away before losing possession.

SECOND HALF UNDERWAY

Who will come out on top of this evening's Rhein derby? It's still all to play for into the second half...

APPROACHING THE BREAK...

Fortuna will likely be the happier side if the scores do stay the same going into half-time. Gladbach have had more going forward so far, which is not to say that the home side's goal was undeserved. The story of the first half so far, though, is Kaan Ayhan's crossing. The centre-back should get more opportunities to put a ball into the box from now on.

GOOO... NO!

Gladbach think they have a second go-ahead-goal, this time through Neuhaus, but it's ruled out for offside. Hofmann was brilliantly played in behind the Fortuna defence after a flick from Thuram but he was in an offside position when the pass was played before he touched the ball beyond Kastenmeier for Neuhaus to tap home.

A THOMMY GOAL THE KEY TO VICTORY?

Thommy scored twice in the first half of this Bundesliga season with his strikes coming against Cologne and Union Berlin. On both ocassions Fortuna went on to win. Can they do the same again tonight?

THOMMY TIME FOR FORTUNA!

The home side are level with a bit of class from the winger. He is on the end of a long ball into the box from that man Ayhan, and controls it superbly with his back to goal and a defender giving him no space. His touch sends him away from his marker to the right of goal and he's able to slide and meet the ball ahead of Sommer, lifting into the roof of the net to take the roof off the Merkur Spielarena.

AYHAN THE CROSS-KING

Just before Gladbach's opener, Kaan Ayhan once again caused problems to the Foals defence with a cross from the right. The centre-back - playing on the right side of a back three today - simply whips the ball into the box as quick as he can when afforded the time and space. Berisha controlled this one on his chest before Ampomah fluffed his shot and Gladbach countered.

HOFMANN PUTS GLADBACH AHEAD IN STYLE

Gladbach bring the ball upfield from their own box with a long ball to Thuram down the right. He cuts inside on the edge of the box and plays an outstanding through ball into the box for Hofmann to run onto. The former BVB midfielder obliges before slotting the ball past Kastenmeier with a perfect finish across the Fortuna shot-stopper. A lovely goal to take the lead in the derby.

FORTUNA COMING INTO THIS ONE

It was a good start from Gladbach in the early stages but Fortuna are keeping more and more of the ball and looking for ways through their visitors' defence. Very much all square so far.
14'

ALMOST BRILLIANT, BERISHA...

Ayhan is found on the right flank in some space and he does superbly to whip in a powerful cross towards Berisha in the Gladbach box. The January signing meets the ball perfectly with a header but Sommer is on hand to deny him his first Bundesliga goal.

ZAKARIA EFFORT BLOCKED

Thuram skins Adams as he takes the ball into the box on the right flank. He then smashes the ball towards the middle of the goal with Zakaria making a run to meet it, and meet it he does with the slightest of touches. Zanka ( Mathias Jorgensen) is on hand to make a vital block though.
7'

GINTER WITH A BIG CHANCE

The Germany international has the chance to head the ball at goal after reaching Hofmann's free-kick curled into the box. He goes to glance the ball at goal but completely misses it, and it bounces off a defender and behind. He can't quite believe he didn't connect with the ball there...

THREE-MAN DEFENCE FOR GLADBACH

The Foals are lining-up with three centre-backs for the first time this season. The defensive line is made up of Ginter, Strobl and Elvedi, with Wendt and Lainer in midfield on either wing to support Zakaria and Neuhaus in central midfield. Hofmann is on the right wing, Thuram in the middle and Stindl on the left.

UNDERWAY IN DÜSSELDORF!

It's Saturday night in Germany and we've got a show for you all to enjoy. It's the Rhein derby between Fortuna and Gladbach...
Kick-off!

TIGHT AT THE TOP

The pressure is on the Foals this evening at the top of the Bundesliga table after wins this weekend for Dortmund, Leipzig and Leverkusen so far. Three points for Marco Rose's side will take them onto 42 points, ahead of Leverkusen into fourth place with Schalke still to play tomorrow, as well as Bayern. Every point is crucial now as the title race continues to heat up.

A RETURN TO GOALS FOR THURAM?

Marcus Thuram scored his first two Bundesliga goals as Gladbach won the reverse fixture 2-1. He's currently seven games without a goal but has scored three and got an assist in the three games without Plea this season.

A BIG TEST FOR RÖSLER

Fortuna head coach Uwe Rösler is unbeaten in his two Bundesliga games since taking over from Friedhelm Funkel at the start of the month. Draws with Frankfurt and Wolfsburg have been impressive results given the club's position in the table, but this evening is likely to be Rösler's biggest test so far in the Fortuna dugout.

HOFMANN IN ATTACK FOR GLADBACH?

Jonas Hofmann starts for Gladbach today, which is not something so untoward, but he may be in a more attacking position today than his usual central midfield position. With Florian Neuhaus, Tobias Strobl and Denis Zakaria all starting, it would appear the German will start alongside Lars Stindl and Marcus Thuram in attack today.

STEFFEN STILL MISSING

We're no closer to seeing Zack Steffen in goal again for Fortuna Düsseldorf with the USMNT goalkeeper still out with a knee injury. Florian Kastenmeier remains between the sticks in his place, and has saved 73 per cent of the shots he's faced in his four appearances so far.
