Sandro Trémoulet to make history as first Madagascar player in Germany’s top two divisions

Madagascar international Sandro Trémoulet is set to make history with Karlsruhe after completing a move to the Bundesliga 2 club.

Born in the French town of Sète but representing Madagascar at international level, the centre-back is the first ever Madagascan to sign for a club in Germany's top two divisions.

Moreover, he will become the first Madagascan ever to play in Bundesliga 2 when he makes his debut for Karlsruhe.

"At 26, Sandro is in his prime and gives us options we need for our game," said Karlsruhe managing director Mario Eggimann of the transfer. "He's a great guy and fits perfectly with what we're building here."

The 1.90-metre left-footer has already gained experience in several European countries. In addition to spells in France and Armenia, he also played for Belgian club RFC Seraing. Most recently, he was a regular for Radnik Surdulica in Serbia before his historic move to Germany.

Trémoulet, who has ten senior international caps for Madagascar since making his debut in June 2024, will increase competition in central defence at Karlsruhe and give the coaching staff another tactical option.
