Maximilian Senft named Karlsruhe's new head coach
Karlsruhe have appointed Maximilian Senft as their new head coach.
The 36-year-old replaces Christian Eichner, whose six-year stint in charge came to an end following the culmination of the 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 campaign.
Upon the announcement, Karlsruhe managing director of sport Mario Eggimann said: "At the start of our coaching search, we developed a clear profile. We consistently adhered to this profile and held several in-depth discussions.
"With Maximilian Senft, we have secured a coach who is an excellent fit for Karlsruhe in terms of his sporting ability, his personality, and his working style.
"He embodies our overall footballing strategy because he combines modern training methods, clear development, and proactive football. He has demonstrated that he can not only generate short-term success but also stabilize it through daily work."
Senft, meanwhile, said, "I am incredibly excited about my new role at Karlsruhe and look forward to getting to know the team and getting started together. The exceptional support of the Karlsruhe fans is known far beyond the region, and I can't wait to kick off the new season with you. See you at the end of June."
A former poker player, Senft spent the early part of his coaching career as an assistant, mainly to Thomas Letsch and Gerhard Struber, the latter at several clubs. In 2023, he became SV Ried head coach, earning promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga before ensuring a seventh-place finish in the top flight this past season. At Karlsruhe, he will be taking over a team that finished 10th in the 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 term.
