Darmstadt to play against San Antonio in friendly
Darmstadt are heading to San Antonio, Texas, for a week-long club trip from 25 September to 1 October. The Lilies will visit their sister city and take on partner club San Antonio FC in a friendly on 29 September..
Alongside the match, the team and delegation, including members of the executive board and management, will attend a series of scheduled events and engagements. Fusion energy company Focused Energy will be the main partner for the US trip as part of its premium partnership. The City of Darmstadt will also send a business delegation led by Mayor Hanno Benz to San Antonio from 27 September to 1 October, with the friendly serving as a focal point of the visit.
"We are delighted that both teams are now facing each other in a true friendly match, marking another milestone in this special collaboration and providing a sporting highlight," said Darmstadt president Markus Pfitzner. "During the delegation trip this past March, I could sense at every meeting the close bonds that have formed over the two years since the partnership began. While sport served as the initial connecting element, the collaboration has since expanded to include economic partnerships and social engagement.
"It is wonderful that the City of Darmstadt, led by Mayor Hanno Benz, is using our match as the focal point for a business trip to its sister city, San Antonio."
The match against San Antonio is scheduled for 29 September (kick-off: 7.30 p.m. CT / 02.30 a.m. CEST +1 day), with the Lilies also set to train at the club's facilities. Their itinerary includes official receptions hosted by Darmstadt and the City of San Antonio, as well as opportunities to learn more about the local economy and business landscape, exchange knowledge and take part in social initiatives.
Darmstadt are working closely with the Bundesliga on the US trip as part of the league's international marketing strategy to strengthen its global presence and support its clubs' international growth.
