Hannover dismiss head coach Christian Titz
Christian Titz has been relieved of his duties as Hannover head coach, the club have confirmed.
The decision comes after Hannover started the 2026/27 campaign with just one victory in their opening five Bundesliga 2 games, with Titz leaving after 15 months in charge.
"Our shared aim was to build on the previous season – coupled with the justified hope that we could carry some momentum into the new campaign," explained Hannover CEO Jonas Boldt. "Unfortunately, this did not materialise as we had hoped."
Titz was appointed ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and ultimately led the side to a fourth-place finish in last term's second tier. However, they dropped out of the relegation play-off spot on the final day of the season, letting a lead slip against Nuremberg.
So far this season, the Reds have won just two of their six games in all competitions, one of which was a DFB Cup first-round victory over fifth-tier outfit Hemelingen. The defeat to Nuremberg last weekend proved to be the final straw, and Hannover will now start their search for a replacement.
"I would like to thank the club and all the staff for their cooperation, and the fans for their fantastic support throughout," Titz said. "I wish the team every success for the rest of the season."
U23 coach Lars Barlemann will take charge of the first team on an interim basis as they prepare for the upcoming home match against Bochum.
