The race is on to become the Bundesliga 2 top scorer in 2021/22, with Guido Burgstaller and Sven Michel having overtaken Simon Terodde in Germany’s second division.

Guido Burgstaller

Club: St. Pauli
Age: 32
Games: 19
Goals: 14
Minutes per goal: 118

Burgstaller's putting his experience to good use at Pauli. The Austrian added to his Matchday 1 and 4 efforts with a brace against Jahn Regensburg on Matchday 5. He netted in five straight games as Pauli moved top of the table, only failing to score in Pauli's 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen on Matchday 12. He was back on the goals trail in the rearranged meeting with Sandhausen, before scoring against former clubs Nuremberg and Schalke. He's two games without a goal now though, having failed to hit the target on Matchday 17 or 18.

Simon Terodde

The Robert Lewandowski of Bundesliga 2, Terodde struck on eight of the first nine matchdays to race onto 11 goals and equal the record as the second tier’s all-time top scorer. Injury eventually ended his Hinrunde early, but Terrode was immediately in the goals again in 2022 - scoring the equaliser in Schalke's 1-1 draw with Holstein Kiel.

Pfeiffer scored six of his 12 goals thus far between Matchdays 9-12, before adding a brace on Matchday 14 to briefly take Darmstadt to the top of the table. He bagged again a week later - his most recent strike - to keep the Lilies flying high.

Ducksch began this Bundesliga 2 season at Hannover 96 and scored on Matchday 1 against Werder Bremen. Perhaps due to the impression he made that game, the striker secured a move to Bremen before Matchday 5. He has since found the net a further eight times, most recently against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Matchday 19.
