Full-time: Bielefeld 0-1 Hannover

Hannover strengthen their promotion ambitions thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory at Bielefeld. Hannover had more of the play overall, but didn't really create dangerous chances, especially in the first half. It was a converted Leopold penalty after an unfortunate handball by Russo that put Hannover in front. Afterwards, Hannover managed their lead while Bielefeld pushed forward. Deep into stoppage time, the ball found its way into the Hannover net, but Noll had been fouled by the advanced Kersken and Sarenren Bazee had handled the ball. So it remains 1-0 for the visitors!

No goal!

The ball is in the net! Kersken challenges Noll, who can't catch the ball. The ball bounces into the Hannover goal, but Sarenren Bazee appears to have touched it with his hand! The goal doesn't count!
90'
+ 7

Huge chance!

Yasar's shot from outside the box is blocked, Pichler clears Grodowski's cross. But he continues and dribbles into the penalty area again. His shot from eight metres is well saved by Noll at the near post and cleared for a corner.

Now then?!

Another free kick from the halfway line. Kersken has come forward...

Wrong decision?

Mehlem is free on the left in the penalty area, 13 metres from the goal, but then crosses the ball with his left foot to the far post instead of shooting. He doesn't find a teammate in the centre.

Arminia capable of lucky punch

Arminia have already scored three equalising goals just before the final whistle this season (in Berlin, in Braunschweig and against Kiel).

Still time for a lucky punch?

Bielefeld are pushing forward one more time, but so far they can't find a way through. A corner from the left is headed wide by Knoche from six metres out.

Grodowski gets a shot off on the right side of the penalty area, but it's blocked at the last second by Nawrocki.

Yellow card for Aseko

Aseko receives a yellow card for a challenge in midfield. He will now be suspended for Hannover's match against Fürth next week.

Next double substitution

Kniat brings in more attacking power. Can Mehlem and Yasar contribute to a possible equaliser?
81'

Hannover managing the game well

The visitors are now trying to manage the result with long spells of possession.
77'

Tactical Foul

Chakroun pulls on Wörl's shirt in midfield to prevent a counter-attack. He picks up his first yellow card of the season.
75'

Just over!

Russo's cross from the left is headed by Uldrikis in a looping effort towards the Hannover goal. The ball dips behind Noll onto the roof of the net.

Leopold's shot gets stuck in the wall

Leopold takes the resulting free kick from 17 metres in a central position towards the upper left corner, but Uldrikis gets his head in the way and blocks it. Kersken probably wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, and Uldrikis is left with a throbbing head.
70'

Chance to make it 2-0

Knoche manages to clear Wishaupt's cross from the left before Pichler can get to it. The ball finds its way to Chakroun, who is brought down by Boakye at the edge of the penalty area. It's a good free-kick position for Hannover!
68'

Double substitution

Bielefeld and Kniat also bring fresh impetus to the attack, looking to find the right response to going behind.
66'

Titz changes almost the entire attacking line

Three like-for-like substitutions for the visitors. The Hannover attacking players hadn't really impressed in the first 65 minutes.
63'

Goooooooal for Hannover

The penalty is scored! Russo raises his arm while attempting to play the ball with his leg and then handles the ball. Bitter blow for Bielefeld! Leopold then steps up and converts into the bottom left corner. Kersken dived the wrong way.

Fifth Yellow for Handwerker

Yokota dribbles on the left side of the penalty area towards Handwerker, leaving him behind with a step-over. But Handwerker sticks out his leg and brings the Japanese player down. Yellow card and a free-kick for Hannover...
57'

End product lacking

Allgeier wins an important tackle 30 metres in front of his own goal after a long ball to Wörl, but then plays the ball straight to Corboz's feet. However, he cannot capitalise on the situation.
53'

Too long on the ball

Hannover counter-attacks through Yokota, who takes Saad along on the left flank. In the penalty area, he cuts inside past two Arminia players, but fails to get his shot on target.
51'

Early pressure

Corboz wins the ball 25 metres from the goal and passes it to Uldrikis, whose cross doesn't create any danger.
50'

Good start from the home side

It's a similar picture to the first half. Bielefeld makes a good start, while Hannover are initially pushed back into their own half.
46'

Momuluh goes close!

It takes just 14 seconds for the best chance of the match! After a long ball from Kersken, the ball bounces to Momuluh on the right side of the penalty area, who shoots from 13 metres but aims a bit too high, missing the top left corner by about a metre. Noll would have been powerless there.

Controlled but not dangerous

Hannover are now controlling the match. Bielefeld are sitting a bit deeper. From Hannover's perspective, the only real danger so far came from Källman's chance after about half an hour.

First Yellow Card

Wörl pushes the ball past Leopold, who sticks out his leg. Wörl accepts the contact and goes to ground.

Over the bar!

Top chance! Nawrocki plays a brilliant through ball for Källman, who receives it unmarked on the right side of the penalty area and then fires over the bar with his left foot. The league's top scorer has only been on the ball four times so far, which also applies to the recently impressive Yokota. Bielefeld has kept the visitors' most dangerous attacking players well under control up to this point.
30'

Always an Arminia player in the way

Saad dribbles down the left into the penalty area, but then gets stopped. It's been a frequent occurrence so far.

Aseko down

Aseko now needs treatment. The Hannover player was fouled and then fell into Corboz. He is currently being examined for a potential knee injury.

Oudenne hits the side netting

When Hannover do get going, it's concentrated down the left channel. Saad plays in Oudenne on the left side of the penalty area, but his attempt from a tight angle hits the side netting. It was the visitors' first shot.
22'

Dangerous from set pieces

A corner from the right becomes dangerous again! Handwerker's ball is headed down by Uldrikis at the far post for Russo, who fails to get the ball on target from eight metres out. The ball pinballs to Corboz, whose attempt from a central position lacks power. Noll then gathers it.
21'

Hannover slowly finding their way into the match

Saad and Okon push forward on the left flank, but can't break through at the Bielefeld penalty area. The visitors' spells of possession is now becoming longer.
20'

Hosts well on top

Arminia have already had five shots at goal. They are quickly winning the ball back and have not allowed Hannover a sniff at goal yet.
18'

Typical Bielefeld attack

Corboz is found with a chip ball at the right corner of the penalty area. With his first touch, he tries to play the ball into the penalty area, but a Hannover defender intercepts.
16'

Play resumes

Bauer is back on his feet, and the game is underway once again.
15'

Injury break

Bauer is sitting on the pitch and needs treatment. He seems to have hurt himself in a challenge after the corner.
12'

Hannover venture forward

First advance from the away side. Oudenne wins the ball on the left and marches into the penalty area. His cross is cleared for a corner.
8'

Early pressure from Bielefeld

Noll is involved in the build-up play, but the ball slips under his foot. This results in a corner for Bielefeld. Bauer gets to the ball at the near post, but his header goes wide.
7'

Momuluh a threat out wide

He crosses low from the right into the centre, but nobody has made the run. The ball goes out for a throw-in.
7'

Good start from the home side

Bielefeld have started very actively here and are dominating the opening minutes. Hannover still needs to find their rhythm.
5'

Next attempt

Uldrikis receives the ball 20 metres centrally in front of the goal, but his attempt completely slices off and goes wide to the left of the goal. No danger for Noll
3'

First danger in the Hannover penalty area

It's immediately dangerous! A long ball leads to a foot race between Momuluh and Okon at the Hannover penalty area, both battling intensely for the ball. The Arminia player gets to the ball in the box, but Noll comes out and claims it.

Titz on the threat posed by Kaiserslautern

"I believe that today we must also be very clear with the ball in the rearview mirror, because we are facing a team that is very strong in counter-attacking. And when we have possession, we must also be good at transitioning forward."

Chakroun set for comeback

Chakroun was one of the positive surprises of the first half of the season, but he got injured on matchday 15 (early December in Münster) and has been sidelined ever since. Today, the speedy winger is back in the squad for the first time. Pichler is also available as an alternative option on the bench.
camera-photo

Titz has to rebuild defence

Boris Tomiak is injured and Virgil Ghiță is suspended for five yellow cards, meaning two thirds of Hannover's regular defence is missing. They are replaced by Maik Nawrocki and Bastian Allgeier (pictured), who last started on Matchday 20 and 18 respectively.
camera-photo

One change for Arminia

Compared to last week's defeat in Fürth, Bielefeld make only one change. Benjamin Boakye (pictured) gets the nod on the right ahead of Christopher Lannert. Top scorer Joel Grodowski starts on the bench for the fourth consecutive match.
camera-photo

Mitch Kniat on facing Hannover

"Everything has to be right, then we have a chance to get something from the match. We need to function as a collective. Our motivation against a top team is no higher than against sides at the bottom of the table."

Christian Titz on facing Bielefeld

"Arminia Bielefeld play with high intensity, a great willingness to run and a lot of sprints. I expect a high-intensity match. The fans will be backing their teams to the hilt."
