Full-time: Jahn 1-1 HSV

HSV miss out on the chance to top the table! In the first half, Jahn Regensburg outplayed Hamburg, taking an early lead through Adamyan. Hamburg couldn't cope with the aggressive style of play from the home side. In the second half, the visitors improved, but Selke's goal from the spot would remain the only one despite numerous chances.

Hamburg also makes two changes

HSV coach Merlin Polzin also makes two changes from the 2-1 victory over Preußen Münster; Jean-Luc Dompé and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer start in place of Adam Karabec and Otto Stange (both on the bench).

Two changes for Jahn

Head coach Andreas Patz makes two changes to the team that lost against Greuther Fürth last time out; Leopold Wurm and Anssi Suhonen come in for Robin Ziegele (on the bench) and Andreas Geipl (not in the squad due to a bruised rib).

Hamburg starting XI

Fernandes - Hefti, Hadžikadunić, Schonlau, Muheim - Meffert - Königsdörffer, Richter - Sahiti, Selke, Dompé

Regensburg starting XI

Gebhardt - Bulic, Breunig, Wurm - Pröger, Suhonen, Kühlwetter, Hein - Ernst - Hottmann, Adamyan

This is what Andreas Patz says:

"We need to be well-prepared and perform in the same manner as we did in our recent home matches. We must make good use of our transition moments and be present in the challenges. If we maintain compactness and good spacing, we will be able to stand up to HSV."

Merlin Polzin's thoughts on Regensburg

"Jahn Regensburg win a lot of balls in the midfield areas. We need to be very alert in our build-up play. Their qualities are particularly evident in their counter-attacking game. We're all alert to that but we need to be constantly vigilant. It will certainly be an interesting match for all spectators."

Loanee in focus

Anssi Suhonen was loaned out by Hamburg to Regensburg in January. His two goals in Bundesliga 2 were scored for his permanent employers against Jahn (most recently in April 2022 during the 4-2 away victory in Regensburg).

HSV: Regensburg's bogey team?

Jahn are without a win against Hamburg in nine matches (two draws, seven defeats), having only won the first two encounters in 2018/19.

Recent record

Hamburg have won all of their last five matches against Regensburg, scoring 21 goals in the process (including a 5-0 victory in the reverse fixture).
