Full-time: Braunschweig 1-4 Elversberg

After the break, Braunschweig showed some effort to try and take a share of the spoils at home, but they never really created any clear-cut chances. The 4-1 from the Saarland side's perspective was the decisive moment. Striker Ebnoutalib was the match-winner for the visitors with his brace.

Four for Elversberg!

The double-scorer Ebnoutalib starts the move for the goal, before passing to Stange. The former HSV player squares it to Schmahl, who only has to tap it in. It is clearly game over now.

That was Ebnoutalib's third goal in a row - such a streak had previously only been achieved by one Elversberg player in Bundesliga 2, namely Fisnik Asllani in August 2024.

Flexible Felix

Felix Keidel, whose father Ralf once played 191 matches in the Bundesliga 2 for Ingolstadt, Ahlen, Oberhausen and Duisburg, had previously only been in the starting eleven on matchday three during the home victory against Kaiserslautern. On that occasion, he played as a right-back, showcasing his great flexibility as a player. For Ingolstadt, he has previously been deployed in seven (!) different positions in the third division.

Captain Köhler replaced by Breunig

Braunschweig captain Sven Köhler misses out due to suspension. Fortunately, Breunig has served his red card suspension and is ready to step up to the plate. The home side will be led onto the pitch by keeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann for the first time.
camera-photo

Keidel replaces Günther for Elversberg

Left-back Lasse Günther is out for the visitors from Elversberg, Felix Keidel replaces him in the starting XI. The rest of the side is the same that drew 2-2 against Dynamo Dresden.

Vincent Wagner on facing Braunschweig

"Playing in Braunschweig is a challenge. We'll face quite a considerable force there. They have very dangerous counterattacking players, are good at set pieces, and are playing in their own stadium with the fans behind them – so there are quite a few things coming our way."

Heiner Backhaus on facing Elversberg

"It's very impressive what Elversberg are achieving. They have lost a lot of quality in individual players, but have nevertheless maintained their style of play and filled these with young, wild players, some of whom have also proven themselves in higher leagues. We have analysed Elversberg very thoroughly, watched every match and tried to decipher their principles."

Special match for Elversberg's Pinckert

Lukas Pinckert scored his first goal as a professional against Braunschweig, netting for Viktoria Berlin in a 4-0 away victory in the 3. Liga back in August 2021. He did, however, lose the reverse fixture 6-0 with his team.

Braunschweig's only decisive win

The only Braunschweig victory was even more emphatic: Eintracht won 5-0 at home in March 2024, handing Elversberg their heaviest ever defeat in Bundesliga 2 (although they did also suffer a 5-0 loss at home to Düsseldorf).
camera-photo

Good memories for Elversberg

Elversberg have won three of the four encounters by a scoreline of 3-0, including both matches last season. However, none of the Elversberg goalscorers that day are still with the team (Fisnik Asllani scored three times, Muhammed Damar twice, and Maurice Neubauer once).

A young rivalry

Competitive matches between both clubs have only been taking place since 2023, with clear victories in all four encounters so far.
