A long time ago

Eintracht's last away win in Gelsenkirchen was 37 years ago, claiming a 5-1 victory in Bundesliga 2 in August 1989, with three goals from Bernd Buchheister. The coaches at the time were Peter Neururer and Uwe Reinders. Schalke have never suffered a heavier home defeat in the second division (also 5-1 vs. Hertha in 1984).

Five home wins

Schalke have won their last five home matches against Braunschweig (all competitions), scoring 15 goals to three in the process. Last season's result was a 5-1 victory from Kenan Karaman and Moussa Sylla.

Many ex-Schalke players

Braunschweig's Ron-Thorben Hoffmann (pictured), Lukas Frenkert, Lino Tempelmann and Florian Flick all have a Schalke past, as does coach Lars Kornetka, who was a video analyst with the Royal Blues from 2011 to 2013, working under the likes of Huub Stevens and Ralf Rangnick.
